Default Can we PLEASE have the search function fixed?

Sorry if this has been covered, but the search function didnt find anything on it

Its been buggered for ages and is next to useless now!

I typed in TURBO in cosworth parts for sale and it found NOTHING, even tho there loads on even the first page (PS, if anyones got a decent 2wd or 4x4 turbo for sale, PM me ), so god help me if i want anything more complicated.

Or is it a complex problem thats taking a while to fix?

Be great when it does work tho, chafing my ass at mo.

The forum software ignores and words that were deemed to return too many results.

If you type in "chip" to the search, i dont exist (phil does it daily cause thats the world he wants to live in, lol)

Trouble is even if you add another word to make it so it WOULD be useful, it still doesnt.

I can see why pet has done it to save the hardware but on the other hand, its not like the forum cant afford hosting that can cope with it IMHO, www.migweb.co.uk is just as big as PF and copes fine with all searches.

Yup. asked about this months back (I was looking for the S1 Cosworth thread) and Pet said that words like turbo, Cosworth, Escort, Sierra etc would bring in literally hundreds of matches and are hidden from the search database. Try the "Google PF Search" located next to the normal search icon.

That would be great if the window was resizable - Firefox 2 opens a new tab in the same tiny window, so it's like watching the WRC through a letter box. Backwards. In the dark...

How big do you need the search box?? Window opens fully once you've typed in a search

search function will be back to speed when i fully recode it and rebuilt search index, and i plan to do this within 10 or 15 days. As soon as it will be done, you will notice a huge difference

as Chip says, i needed to block some single words as some users where searching for "car", "ford", "lol", "mp3" and all those silly words that created huge load for nothing. That's why i did this at first... but will soon be back to how it should be
