Default Red wire in my MK4..

Well was cleaning the engine bay the other day of my MK4... When I opened the carberettor filter, some red wire pranged outta somewhere.. Just wandering if anyone knows what it is, and where it's supposed to go? I dont remember seeing it before I opened the filter up!

Car was running a bit dodgy today, almost like it didn't wanna go, and wanted to splutter out everytime it was idling with the choke out. Though that may have just been because it hasn't been started up in a few days!

Well I put the filter back on, and left the wire out for now.. It seemed like it was stuck somewhere, hidden away..But as soon as I took the filter top off, it came out from sumwhere. It's not an electrical wire, but a really thin tube.

think it goes underneath on the base of the filter housing.take filter housing off and carefully look underneath as there should be other pipes connected and u will see where it goes its not a wire its a pipe for the breather system i think.good luck

Yeah I think it was a thin air pipe that was connected onto the standard airbox. God knows why the previous owner left it tucked in near the carb
