cheapest option is get hold of a sierra for the floor pan, and rear beam, diff, it all depends on how far ya wanna go and how deep ya pockets are really, a lot of the bits ya can get of the shelf now days, otherwise most place will be happy to fabricate engine mounts etc

I'm also thinking of converting my escort to rear wheel drive although I have a van which is running the fuel of satan (diesel!!!) (thinking of turning it into a pick up). I was thinking along the lines of getting a spares n repair 4x4 rs2000 as it would already have the potential for transplanting the rear diff, drive shafts etc and using the heavenly 2ltr petrol engine and gear box. The only problem i can see apart from moving the fuel tank ( a new one would be needed any way) and a bit of structual working for the drive shaft is that the drive shaft would not be long enough and would need one making (as well as completely rewiring the loom). Any avice peeps or am i opening up a can of worms not worth opening!!

Hi my 1st post was looking on google and noticed this post.
Sierra floor pan as mentioned above would be the best bet. just buy the car as a donor, so you can use the complete running gear and brakes steering, fuel tank.
And as far as im aware theres no 2.0 zetec-s and if you want somthing cheap and with a decent ammount of hp and torque go for the rs2k I4 engine. as messing about with a 2.0 zetec to get it to rs power is pointless and its cheaper to buy one.
also you could use the sump and pick up pipe from the 2.0/2.3 scorpio ultima, and flywheel/clutch and im not sure if the gear box is the same as some sierras i think it is.
I wouldnt touch the rs2k 4x4 running gear, the transfer boxes are like rocking horse crap to find. and they cost a fair bit if you do find one.
and apparently there weak, plus is will drain the power. just keep it Rwd. more fun too
keep us up to date as it would be awesome to see.
