Default Modelzone stores closing

Not been into my local Modelzone for a while, but found out they called the adminstrators in. They have been bought out now, but all shops are shutting. Think they might be selling stuff via the web only. Plenty of minichamps and the like 20% - 50%. The only thing not reduced was Scalextric stuff.

They used to be very good, always had the latest models in at reasonable prices.
Ranges were poor and prices high at the end.
Sad they are going as used to buy models at least 5 at a time

I would bet that the internet put them out of business

as they lost sales they will have had no option but to up there prices to try and cover there losses , this then loses them more customers

the internet and people trading on the side is not doing this country any good

sadly it will be far to late before we all realise what we have done

50% tax wont be that far away fellas to pay for all the people we have put out of work

and we can then sit back and watch all those claiming the dole spend there money they have earned trading on ebay

Modelzones own website was/is a very good earner for them. It's a fundamental business plan issue unfortunately. Modelling is a niche hobby these days, not enough customers to justify their shops and the associated costs in 99% of the areas.

I'm doing to open a gourmet sausage deli in Saudi Arabia and blame the interweb when I go bust

It wasn't modelzone who did this to be fair.
The cost of diecast metal drastically increased from china thus putting models up in price

A lot of the diecast companies have gone out of business. That's why the prices have gone up.
Glad I got a few mk2 escorts from modelzone when they were £10 delivered ;O)
