Default Neil Roper cossie heads, anyone know him?

Just thinking out loud, looking at this guys website for a cossie head to be machined

£650 for a 500bhp YB head sound cheap? or is that the going rate?

looking at the images of the YB head it looks good; but then i guess they are not close up images

http://www.roperdevelopments.co.uk/

click on prices and scroll down

this is following on from this post ( https://passionford.com/forum/general-car-related-discussion/250479-cosworth-head-job-good-or-bad-lots-of-photos.html ) where a guy was not happy with head work and he paid over £1200

anyone heard of this guy? or know his work

Neil's very well respected indeed, very talented guy, he also did the head on my nova as it happens as he doesnt just do cossie stuff

You wont go wrong with a head from Neil, its a proper job based on firsthand experience right up to top levels (including F1 and of course the now legendary RS200) and its what works, not all the bullshit silly big ports for the sake of them that kill torque that some head modifiers do, everything Neil does is competition proven

PS

Bear in mind with Neil's (and ANY decent head company) prices that you will probably have to pay more for work to correct your head in some manner, knackered seats or similar, as not many YB heads are in genuinely good condition anymore!

Yep, well respected. He did my head and as has already been said has tonnes of experience. He used to work with a mate of mine at Brian Harts when they had the F1 engine contract with Arrows.

Yep, did the head for my Escos, didn't bullshit with huge ports etc, asked what power I wanted and how I expected the car to drive, and returned a head that is perfect in every way Top guy to speak to as well, VERY interesting stories about his motorsport experiences ... Can't go wrong IMHO

My head was done in a few days, but he did it over the weekend as a favour for me as he's a good mate of a friend of mine.

I think if you stress the importance of a quick turnaround, he'll do his best to help you out, just all depends on his workload at the time.

The quality of his porting is exceptional...I had a head done my Mountune a few years ago (at great expense..). I worked out with Neil, from invoice dates etc, that my head had been outsourced to him by Mountune. I could have saved nearly £1k by going direct...

the problem i had really big problem was i sent that guy off ebay that sells cosworth shells etc, claims to be x -mountune,my head and he fitted new guides and had the head sent to roper for porting

the x-mountune prick fukd up all the guides twice
cost me a fortune

but the actual porting job was excellent

said by both machine shops i finally got to build head up

Im having my Zetec-SE haed done by neil..

Will have larger inlet and exhaust valves - porting to both the exhaust and inlet side, as well as bronze valve guides.

Will get some pictures up when it's done

Default Head Work

Fair number of heads fettled by Neil, mostly GM or Ford BDG with some YB, can help organising a possible deal as with Chip's turbo nova head.
Most YB heads need valve guides which cost extra which would be discussed berfore any work is done.
