new 2wd black saff

another reason i never get to finish anything is when a fellow member asks for some advice on selling his saff, and you end up buying it yourself:cry:

i owned a black 2wd saff back in 96 and i said i would never own a black cossie again as they are very hard to keep looking well lol.but times change i suppose.

a very nice original car with some nice history ,with a few small jobs to get it back to her former glory .

first to will be the clears and smoked lights, and some paintwork.i will limit the modifying to a stage 1 and a set of silver rl7,s.

i also have to reconnect the heater as it had aircon fitted and removed

i will also be looking for a mint drivers seat if anyone knows of anyone with one for sale

ps .thanks john [johnny cortina on here] for making it a nice hassle free deal

below is a few pics of when i went to see it

Thanks bud

It's rarity is the reason I bought it as black wouldn't have been my favourite colour in a cossie

Looks Great. I love my black 2wd as it's different and chances of parking up next to another one are very slim.

Never have managed to find out the true story behind the Black cars, was it a expensive option that very few were prepared to pay or was the story of only ford directors cars were black true ?

Anyone know the truth about the black cars ?

james kiely 25-11-2018 01:39 PM

In the history with the car it shows the car was supplied by Gregory Davies rs dealer in Lincoln It was registered by Gregory Davies as a demonstrater vehicle and then allocated to a director of the company. I have heard 25 out of the 55 black 2wds were allocated to directors within europe

Nice car buddy
I didn’t use to be keen on black saffs but after seeing a few lately with some tasty mods and a nice set of wheels they can look really slick

Cheers Paul

cossynut2 25-11-2018 09:28 PM

Is it original paintwork James? It certainly has a good shine. A gloss black solid colour is the best there is for maximum impact but you will need to clean it quite often.

james kiely 25-11-2018 09:54 PM

I would say it's 90%,original paint, and will need a little tlc to the paint. I'm not looking forward to the constant cleaning tbh mate lol

cossie51 26-11-2018 06:01 AM

I don't find keeping mine clean a problem. If it's been sitting in the garage a few weeks then it gets dusty but a cover will cure that once I get round to purchasing one.
I machine polished mine then coated it with Gtechniq crystal serum light and now it really easy to keep clean. White wheels are the hardest part to keep clean.

steppy 26-11-2018 09:51 AM

Saphs look amazing in black but are unfortunately a nightmare to keep clean, I only have a lowly gls
