Old ford 10-11-2013 06:22 PM

What's wrong with the s2? With your signature I would have put money on it lol

fuzzy 10-11-2013 06:23 PM

I cant think of any circumstances were id go for old school.

dave_s2_rst 10-11-2013 06:26 PM

Lol....the s2 went and the e60 came. I find the e60 a tad boring and have an itch for another old skool motor

2Litre 10-11-2013 06:27 PM

Old school, Any cosworth/Audi Quattro/Lancia intergrele.

Tim

rs clint 10-11-2013 06:38 PM

old school every time new cars are mostly generic pieces of plastic ,mostly look the same :cry::cry:

Old ford 10-11-2013 06:44 PM

When I want a bit of fun the saffy cosworth comes out to play, the BMW is a great motorway muncher, quite, stable and punchy if you need it, also good round town with the auto box cannot fault it realy.

gingerturbo 10-11-2013 06:46 PM

Old Skool all day long

dave_s2_rst 10-11-2013 06:48 PM

The f10 is a lovely motor.....is yours petrol or diesel?

gjh 10-11-2013 07:00 PM

I go old school, I'm too young to have a sensible car, most newer cars are, old school rules.

Old is cool, but living with it day in day out gets tedious.

just because its old doesn't automatically mean its cool. the escort was a shit car when it was new never mind with 20+ years under its bonnet.

mcst 10-11-2013 07:54 PM

There's a lot to be said for progress in car design. New school for me, old stuff is nice to pull out for a play or cruise on a nice day but id rather do my daily commute with a nice light clutch, light steering comfy seats etc....

It's actually a f11 m sport diesel, the f10 is a saloon. This is my fifth bmw and not had a bad one yet.

The E30 m3 isn't iconic ! You must be kidding, but saying that it is 20+ years old, but there will be more modern cars still about and in good condition in 20 years as they won't suffer from the tin worm

I don't think so no but we have all got our own opinions ,that's what the threads about lol;-)

Glenn_ 10-11-2013 08:16 PM

I would have the bm.Sell it and buy an escos and spend the rest on it.

The S2 is the cooler car and will get more looks than the BM.

I agree the s2 gets more looks but usually because they don't know what it is

Good answer that!:top:

Cosworth Lad 10-11-2013 09:16 PM

them 2 arnt comperable e30 against f10 escort against focus st imo that is,

fuzzy 10-11-2013 09:22 PM

none of them are comparable. you cant compare a 20+ year old car with todays modern technology in anything other than rose tinted specs personal opinions.
in most cases id have the new car over the old.

Dan cosworth 4x4 10-11-2013 09:34 PM

Old skool for the weekend, newer for the commute.

But given the choice which would you have.......S2 FRS or 3 door.....hmmmm

Glenn_ 11-11-2013 04:23 AM

3dr for me cause its more special. The mk2 focus are a good car but there are loads about.

Pretty much all of these. Im 20 had my first rs turbo at 18 sold it and bought a mk2 focus st sold that bought another RS turbo and now breaking that to buy another mk2 focus st. Driving a old car daily is absolutely horrendous, NEVER and i mean NEVER will i ever do it again.

Saying that i would love a weekend car but you tend to have more problems with a weekend/toy than you do with a daily

Cosworth Lad 11-11-2013 06:53 AM

So true in winter new school vise versa but driving a new car daily does get boring nothing goes wrong with them lol old school have much charecter .

Old ford 11-11-2013 08:08 AM

My lad drives the s2 as a daily without any major problems and not let him down in the last 18 months , I hope this comment doesn't bollocks it :)
but I couldn't use it as a daily, with no power steering you need arms like popeye to park it.

Rod-Tarry 11-11-2013 10:06 AM

I dont like Ford or BMW so thats a tough choice between those two.
Using that old Escort daily must be the nearest thing to hell on earth it was a very average car when it came out can only guess how shocking it feels now. The Beemers vie for the title of most boring car on the planet but at least it would be comfortable. So after much though the Beemer wins. Can we not compare old & new Audis where both would be great cars .

Old ford 11-11-2013 10:13 AM

not trying to compare ford or bmw, just whether you would prefer an old classic car ( that's another can of worms to open, whats a classic?)to a newer model

Here's one for people to debate then, Ferrari F40 or 458. That's a toughie.

Old ford 11-11-2013 11:57 AM

on looks alone 458 as never had the chance to drive either and probably never will.

like I said at the beginning. I cant think of any circumstances where id prefer an old car over new unless your picking two from complete opposite ends of the motoring spectrum.
and id even rather drive about in a new basic rep mobile than a "classic".
Christ , I remember the days of the manual chokes on cold winter mornings....

BLU 11-11-2013 01:41 PM

Simple old skool all day long, well at least mid 90's or older!!

I hate the way new cars have a light and a buzzer for every conceivable thing!
BING *dash light illuminates* "the road may be icy". I fucking know I've got a winter coat and gloves on and have just had to scrape the ice off the windows ffs :wall:

BING *dash light illuminates* "fuel level low" I know I'm on my way to the fuel station

BING *dash light illuminates* "tyre pressure......." starts smashing the dash to pieces :bat:
