Be interesting to see if it gets dusted off for Silverstone:top:

Now that would be nice to see it out and good to hear it's still about. Was looking through an old fast car last week with a trackstar review and there were 4 cars by the looks, or 3 cars and one spare shell.

i too got told that by a mutual friend of ours who himself was told by the then owner of "number 1" when he went to pick up some wheels off him
but as you say he has now passed away so who knows

it is in the texaco livery, done by eggenberger back in the day

What makes that one number one, and not the other number one one?

carcollector 29-02-2012 09:49 AM

story goes, as far as i remember, that this number 8 car was the first to be made into a rs500 at the factory but was kept by ford as a training car.

it was later given to eggenberger as a present for winning the championship and thats where my m8 got it from.

some of these so called experts that use their position to their own advantage make me smile ;)

I assume its this one that came up for sale a few years ago in the UK that was brought over from europe at the time.

From memory it was gifted to one of the Texaco drivers

edit

just double checked against the database and Daz has this one down as 7 so maybe they did a couple from the early protos

Eggenberger still has the Bastos Spa winning car and a warehouse of spares - yours for Ģ200k

Didn't Eggenberger also have one Texaco coloured car in their hands?

Slaney21 29-02-2012 02:10 PM

Isn't there one of these on show at sparkford motor museum? been a few years since i have been but recall one there with a few stickers on it.

*edit*

the stickers where "duckhams" or something similar if i remember correctly. A quick google has a cossie on there in black without livery
