My golf TDI finally at 300hp plus :)

5 Attachment(s)
Well after a lot hard work and money I finally have a 300hp TDI.

As some know my previous set up with stock engine was around 265hp (done 13.9 @ 102mph).

With a big valve ported head, cam and some clever mapping I hit 304hp and 530NM. The poor R783's were pushed hard to make this power, but my plan is to upgrade these :)

Obviously the smoke level was not great, but this hopefully will improve with bigger nozzles or modified PDE's.

Note I was trying different maps so thats why I have three different runs:

I have footage but needs editing.

Does this make me first to hit 300hp in the UK (TDI)? ;)

BIG THANKS GOES OUT TO....well you know who you are :)

Cheers

Bobby

Cool, very unusual to see a tuned diesel like that, must be quite responsive :king:

Bobby Singh 08-01-2011 08:40 PM

It pulls like a train mate with almost 400 torques...

bigchez 08-01-2011 08:53 PM

Good going!!

Chip 08-01-2011 08:57 PM

Bet that goes well.

Well done :top:

Escow-Van 08-01-2011 09:00 PM

Haha, good work!
Is it any better on fuel now though, compared to a 300hp turbo petrol? Just out of interest.

Bobby Singh 08-01-2011 09:05 PM

When on the motorway you dont use 300hp all the time so its still very good on mpg 480 to the tank.

white2lsr 08-01-2011 09:17 PM

Im very impressed. Hope a certain friend of mine doesnt read this. He is very easily influensed!:tiff:

Glenn_ 08-01-2011 09:18 PM

silly question but have you fitted a modified clutch. I know a lad who got his golf chipped then a few weeks later the clutch started to slip cause of the torque

Bobby Singh 08-01-2011 10:03 PM

Clutch has slipped but its not rated at 530nm so no shock there...
Clutch only slips if the power comes in all at once - a progressive map is much better for clutch, traction etc etc

Nice mate.Mate of mines got a bora 150tdi stage 1 mapped. The other day he anielated a subaru so i can only imagine your 300bhp as a MONSTER lol.

damien roe 08-01-2011 10:54 PM

pd130s have been taken to over 300 on standard bottom ends, bobby singh do you know of a black mk4 gt tdi with red bbs ch reps on any forums at all? its a local lad called pab whos made 257bhp on a jabbasport hybrid( expensive and shite imo) differnt nozzles, remap by a local place, fmic, different manifold, straight pipe and decat obviously, pd160 intake and a few other bits, goes really well and is still a completely standard pd130 base

Hi mate if im honest in the vw world theres alot of bs power figures. For eg a vnt 17 based hybrid makes a max of around 220hp and thats with stock nozzles working overtime and 2 bar boost.
Have you links to the 300hp pd 130's?

If it was a stock 212hp wrx or what ever they are then id say it would be equal / poss have the edge yes :DD: i have a audi a4 130 tdi mapped to 170ish (these weigh more than Bora's) an ive had a go against a new scirocco 2.0t (same as engine as the golf mk5 gti) an was neck an neck upto about 90/100
so with the scoob being permanent 4x4 & heavier an the bora being 2wd around the 200hp & with loads more torque then yes ..

He used the word anialate.Ive been in plenty of chipped golfs, passats and none could anialate a healthy wrx.
My mate had a chipped fabia vrs that was quicker than golfs and it couldnt keep up wae another mates 52 plate stock wrx.

ya it is

rallycross 09-01-2011 04:22 PM

that graph shows what a horrible narrow power band tdi's have, no pleasure to be had revving one of those old tractors - however when you look at the fuel guage/ mpg then it all makes sense!

Bobby Singh 09-01-2011 04:47 PM

Thanks for the comments guys.

Rallycross you should see the curve of a non big turbo tdi look very much like this /\

I certainly didnt say it would anialate it, it would be close but imo the bora would have the edge when rolling if we are talking 0-60 then the scooby will win the bora will just spin there not great at getting the traction down in the 1st two gears with the extra torque...

Ginge ! 09-01-2011 04:51 PM

fair play for overtaking a impreza,,,,,, you realise that BOTH people have to be going for it to class as winning a race as i overtake LOADS of cars on the way to work in the morning,,,,,,, i was jogging past a porsche GT3 the other day too come to think of it

cossiegreg1 09-01-2011 04:58 PM

hi bobby. just read your resto thread. good work, car looks a sleeper!!
are you still using o.e box? is it 6spd?

RS Grant 09-01-2011 05:40 PM

Its good that you've reached the 300bhp level Bobby... think the BM boys will have got there a while ago with the 6-cyl TD engines they've got, but I've not seen any other <2.0 TDi engines making that sort of power before. :top:

...and its alright guys, Momo's racing chat is a little far fetched... his Stage 3 Sapphire Cosworth killed 'one of the newer Lambos' too apparently.

Cheers,
Grant

ah thats why i remember his name to be amoungst the usual bull-shitters.

AGAR-COSWORTH 09-01-2011 07:06 PM

Very impressive Bobbi - power curve looks good for a diesel too.

Bobby Singh 09-01-2011 07:19 PM

Thanks guys - here a vid of the power run...smoke anyone lol believe it or this is pretty low level smoke for this kind of power level from a 1.9. But i would like it totally clean...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/09...ods/th_304.jpg

Bobby Singh 09-01-2011 07:21 PM

cossiegreg1 - still on stock box 6sp with upgraded clutch etc

syko2005 09-01-2011 07:25 PM

I like it :) And as for smoke thats nothing. I see alot more coming out the back of bog standard mondeos been driven by pensioners lol :)

Rs1 09-01-2011 07:36 PM

Dont you get hassle from the law for chucking out so much smoke?

Bobby Singh 09-01-2011 08:41 PM

On the road the smoke appears less so no biggie.

mrviper 09-01-2011 09:12 PM
