in car heating not working
hi every one im kind off stuck here and i need some help, i have a 3dr ford focus 2000 model which i think its the mk1,
my heating in the car does not work at all. numbers 1.2.3.4 not working, what could be the problem and what do i need to check or buy some please help me out  |
No heat comes out, or the fan blowers don't work?
If it's the fan blowers, could be anything. Quite common for the heater resistor to blow, but then it should still work on position 4. |
when you turn the numbers to 1.2.3 or 4 u cnt hear anything at all normally u would hear the heater fan come on but in my case you dnt hear anything
|
Resistor pack, plug come off from fan(under passenger side of dash) or fuse.
|
should i c if the fuse is blown 1st or should i jst buy a new resistor as every 1 has told me that the resistors go on them and check the fuse aswell how comman is it for the heater fan to go and how can i tell if its gone
|
easy job checking the fuse, go do it now lol
|
ive checked the fuse the fuse was blown so i replaced it and the new fuse blows straight away would that be because the resistor is faulty
|
Go check the resistor
Usually they have a burned out look to them so should be easy enough to spot Here you go if you need it http://www.fordpartsuk.com/shop/focu...istor_1298.htm |

Quick trip to the scrappy and i took out the switch(the one with 1,2,3,4 on) and replaced my old one. Fixed it straight away. |
Won't be the resistor pack as it would still work on position 4, check the fuse as said as it's going to be a power/motor problem if good then check you have power at the switch it's also not uncommon for the motors to sieze hence blowing the fuse if water has got into them.
