Hmm, I smell shite! So you are telling us all you would happily do time in prison for a cat. I don't think so.

Well reading this thread seriously pissed me off. Maybe when it boils down to it, no i wouldn't shoot the owner, even though they'd piss me off more than the dog, but yes i'd kill any dog that killed my cat, 100%. Just rather pissed off at the amount of cunts round here!

You realise cats walk with their claws retracted, so don't actually scratch cars...you'll probably find it's foxes scratching them

Looks like I need to be getting a dog!! Cats are a menace to people that don't own them.

It is the owners fault for letting their cat stray onto your property, so fuck em! I certainly wouldn't be loosing sleep over it!

i really wish cat owners would act responsibly, if they didn't let the fuckers out uncontrolled, this kind of thing wouldn't happen

Cats are by their very nature free roaming, they always have been.

I do agree that owners can do a lot more though. Personally my cat, which I've had for 15 years now, very rarely goes out. When there's no one in the house she's locked in, and when it's time for bed she's in too.
She's allowed out when she wants when there's someone about and she stays in our garden 99% of the time.

Sounds like a very unfortunate accident, best thing to do would be to be honest imo, not easy but better than them finding out the truth at later date.

Lol at all the knobheads that appear everytime there's a thread about cats!!

Got one of my three cats curled up on my lap at the mo, purring away, really cant understand how anyone could hurt any animal, wether you like that breed of animal or not.

R.I.P cat

are you a knob cause you come across as one

would you kill my dog if ur cat was in my garden when it was killed??

you need to look at all the facts before doing any thing and its not up to you if the dog lives

its up to a court if it gets that far

Pmsl at all the 'cat haters' lol.....can see you obviously never intentionally 'set' your dog on the cat but to be fair if something like that happened to my cat i'd be less than happy, in truth i'd probably rather someone just said it'd been run over !

I'd be shitting it if I was your neighbour the way you swing that keyboard...

As for "manning the fuck up" I've told the neighbours and burried the cat for them, they aren't too happy and who can blame them and I'm expecting some very harsh words when they get back but it's something I've got to deal with

Other than that what would you like me to do? Kill the dog for doing something that's bred into him?

If not, you neighbour should get a Tiger, eye for an eye and all that...
you really are a complete fucking cunt arent you! why the hell should teh dog be put down for killing a cat.a dog is a killer! its their nature.a rabbit, bird, squirrel or cat?all game for a dog.
dogs get out from time to time.it happens, not intentinal. so if a cat(which can roam freely(and shit in everyones garden but its own!) goes in a garden and kills a pet rabbit, that cat should be put down for being what it is? dont be so fucking stupid!!

He's OK until other dogs have a go at him, as for cats he ignores them most of the time but on this occasion it ran and his instincts must have kicked in. My mates kids rag him all over and he doesn't bother, in fact the only person he has a go at is me when he's playing.

Anyone who knows these dogs knows they were bred for hunting and you can't get that out of them, it's what they do but they have other traits which outweighs that to make them great pets which is the reason I got him but you have to watch them with other animals, especially cats, this time he got out which is more my fault than his...he was following instincts.

"dogs don't kill people, wabbits do, I saw it on a documentary on BBC2"

Most dogs in this country are bred as Pets, not killers. You're going on asif it's a fucking lion or something

you dont get rid of an animals natural born instincts full stop, yes they subside a bit but dont go away. if its was evolved a certain way then its in them, from crocodiles to cats. cats have it bred in,they hunt all the time, but because it takes on mice and birds people dont care.they larger the animal the larger its prey and thats when people get upset.cats-rabbits,dogs-cats

Not really, most dogs are still only a few generations from working dogs and most of them were bred for hunting or fighting, especially terriers.

Feel sorry for the Cats owners, atleast your being responsible about it.

Have you told the owners in the past that your dog has nearly got the cat?

What ever you do don't knock on the door with the cat in an Tesco bag with "Every Little Helps" because i'd expect a punch in the face.

Most laws regarding dogs refer to either fighting or their behavior towards people. If the attack had happened on your own private property then there is no case whatsoever. As it happened outside of your property in a public place you are quite likey to be charged with having an out of control dog.
And the owners of said dead cat are within their rights to take out a civil action against you. It all depends whether you or one of the witnesses reports it.

If I knew your address I'd personally report you now.
I had left the page idle... Hadn't read that update.

Completely different circumstance now then. You could be in trouble. But so could your dog! But I suggest you stick with the defence that it is in a dogs nature to wound and kill small animals.

A child is a completely different scenario.

Told them last time but TBH he wasn't bothered, it gets kicked out in the morning and let in at night...some nights it's out all night sat on the door step.

Cat got what it deserved. Sorry but no way was the cat not aware he was shitting on a dogs territory.

Had the dog escaped and and gone and attacked the cat while it was minding its own business in the cats own garden then yeah the dogs fault, but the cat came into the dogs own garden so was lunch, end of!!!

the cat will have remembered nearly being chased before but still chose to go into the garden

Its a bit like walking on a minefield, eventually you will get blown up

Cats are dirty buggers anyway, crapping all over peoples gardens!!! The droppings can be extremely hazardous to young children and pregnant women and therefore cat owners should be more responsible about letting them roam, its fine to say they roam by nature but dogs are natural hunters by nature so that would make both parties right would it not? If I caught a cat messing in my garden it would be helped back over the fence by the hosepipe!!

I doubt you could be in any trouble really as its in your garden just prolly upset the neighbours a bit

I had a crack head jump over my garden fence about 4 years ago and my last Rotty ripped his thigh off as he tried to leave the way he entered, I was out the front of the house at the time working on a car quite late at night so didnt notice for an hour or so after it happeneded as she pinned him up against a fence

when I did see it and got over the initial shock lol I dragged him through my house onto the path out the front and phoned him an ambulance and also police arrived and said my dog only did what he would expect any dog to do and I had nothing to answer to, heard nothing else off it.

ask any grey hound owner about killed cats, its instinct and as long as the owner of the dog did not "set the dog on the cat" then any reasonable person has to put it down as one of those things any cat that roams the streets at night faces everyday.

if you are a cat owner and worried then keep it inside and under control the same a dog owner has to do.

to the keyboard warriors who claim they would shoot the dog ect ect grow up
