457bhp @ 6800rpm
Wasnt able to get the boost control working well enough for a full boost run, that figure was at 1.55 bar, going to need to revisit how the boost control works as I would like to get another third or half a bar into that ideally.

If I remember right, Chip told me that it is not road legal (apparently VOSA don't like the engine being where it is)

LHD220Turbo 18-12-2009 07:29 PM

Rs1 18-12-2009 07:29 PM

I didnt think it was legal and just a track car, but its got a tax disk!

TOMMY_RS 18-12-2009 07:41 PM

are the head lights out of a mark 4 golf or sumit? there not standard head lights are they?

XRT_si 18-12-2009 07:41 PM

Nice power!

lol @ the tag though

Mark_ 18-12-2009 07:46 PM

thats fookin mental chip, fair play

vroooom ptssssh 18-12-2009 07:48 PM

Mental!

My nissan has that sort of power and I think that's mental, must be CRAZY in a nova!

Dave Hewy 18-12-2009 08:11 PM

Fook me what sort of engine you got under the boot?

Chip 18-12-2009 08:16 PM

rs1. that's at fly and yes its still on the baby exhaust housing.

cams are limiting it a bit I think but to be honest its more power than it needs anyway and I like how it drives so I doubt i'll change them just to chase a few bhp that won't make it anymore fun and will probably kill the gearbox.

might go down a turbo size though as im sure it will perform the same on a 3076 and spool quicker but only turbos I had lieing around were the 35 and the 42.
so I just fitted one to se what its like.
now I know the 35 is bigger than I want I can choose a turbo properly for it at some point.

m3cosworth 18-12-2009 10:12 PM

Massive power...respect due!
Front end looks shit tho!

neilscott83 18-12-2009 10:12 PM

Lights look terrible, but trust me when you are hammering down the B roads of somerset late at night the last thing you think when you are driving is "I wish I had about 70% less light on the roads"
Golf lights look weird but work very well, nova lights look ok but work shit, also the nova lights would look gash with the big bumper, but without the big bumper I have nowhere to mount the 4 radiators on the front of the car.

Its entirely about how it goes, not how it looks with me basically, so Im not really bothered the lights look a bit out of place, but your coment is perfectly fair and accurate.

No mate, you got wrong end of the stick there, it IS road legal, taxed insured and MOT'd
But if you were to build the same thing from a modern car (post 1998) it would need an SVA not just an MOT.

mrjenrst 19-12-2009 12:53 AM

top work chip:top:
What would you be looking at with an extra half a bar?
500 possible?

Dont know till you try it ultimately, but Id be fairly confident of that yeah, but im just not sure there is any point doing so, I'd like to just as a tuning exercise, but I dont think it will actually improve the car if I do so, and it will probably start spitting gearboxes out more often.
I think going down a turbo size for extra spool and the same power, makes more sense TBH!
