Default Argh @ Eletrics

On my Pug

Itsa nightmare, I replaced the voltage regulator about 6months ago...all was fine, had a bit of a brightness thing on the lights going on, where theyd go bright, then normal, then rbight etc....pulsing.

Anyway, ive blown SOOOO many bulbs in the opast few weeks its untrue, got 15.8v while the engine is running Time to replace the rgulator again? Or just get a new alternotr.

Least last time it failed it didnt charge the battery, so in was forced to change it.....for now, with too much voltage changing bulbs is cheaper (just upgraded my tail lights from poofy 5w ones to 10w....hopefully itll cope with the extra volts lol)

No...they will just be slightly brighter for a breif period. You need some heavy duty bulbs 14v. On trucks you can get 28v 10w bulbs as opposed to 24v 5w bulb but I can't recall having seen any for cars.

Best to get a new reg at a bare minimum...

Simon suggested it may be an earth problem.

I also notice that my glow plugs always require 2 heats to get the car started nicely first time.....so could be an engine earth issue?

Fookin french peices of shit......just aslong as the battery doesnt explode or anyting silly, im OK with it overcharging for a wee bit.

DazC, We did use the Pug to jump start Phils car when we first put the ecu on it and
I remember seeing above 16 volts while the idle mapping was being done

Good job it is rated to 25v then!!! Try a seperate earth on it Phil before the alternator but usually a bad earth on the alternator tends to stop it from charging or seriously reduce it's output, not increase it.
