Another eletrician question....... Found the problem...
I have an eletric shower with a pull cord power supply... however i went to switch it on tonight, pulled the cord.... The light on the box on the ceeling came on then i switched on the shower and nothing happened and the light on the box went out.... when i switch the shower back off the light comes back on... seems like every time i switch it on its kinda tripping? any ideas? cheers. pete

chances are it will have a feed straight from teh fuse board and be labled up.
have a check and if it is and you turn it off you should be ok to open it up and have a look.
would advise you check it with some voltage testers first though.
it might just be loose and need tightening up, or burnt out.
either one you capable of fixing really and saving some money.
but i never told ya to do it

Im used to playing with eletrics so shouldnt be a problem pal, ill make sure its switched off at the board and they use my eletric screwdriver to test for voltage, failing that ill get the girlfriend to touch it
Ive taken the front off the pull cord box on the ceeling to find the neutral output (to shower) wire melted and broken down, the rest of its fine, ive taken the box off the shower and the wires in there are mint too, is it just a case of chopping some off then stripping the end and screwing it back into the connector block? any sparkies came across this before? pete
PS: The mains power is off and ive tested it for any power and its dead now

most prob have been a loose connection at the back of the switch.showers pull alot of load and if its been arc'n it could quite easily cause that.but to be sure i would advise to get someone in to test it and make sure.bad electrics cause fires and better to be safe than sorry.
