pc persons, 2 mins please

if i wanted to change the psu on my pc for a quieter one, what should i go for?

its an atx case, and i think its the psu thats really noisy. i wanna start downloading using this pc but its in my room and its very noisy

suggestions please

its prolly only the cpu fan

take the lid off first mate and make sure you are going to replace the right bit!

i'm gonna investigate after work today

if it is the cpu fan, can i get a quieter one of them?

And what processor do you have and ill find a suitable cpu fan if need be?

its a amd 1700 (1.4ghz) socket A (i think)

that power suppliy is quite expensive, are they mean to be a silent brand?

have seen some on ebay for around 6-10 quid

CPU fan is much cheaper to replace mate

i would never get a 10 quid PSU personally

Thats not expensive trust me, especially as if a psu goes bang it can take other pc components down with it, so its worth getting a decent psu, plus i dout a 5-10 quid psu will be quiet.
For a cpu fan(which id try first as its cheap) id go for something like this http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/100451
says socket A but id double check what you have first before ordering anything
