Whats the fastest ERST 1/4mile again?

As title

Mid 12s?

Stavros 31-08-2004 07:38 PM

Just cause jus realised a 1.4litre, 8valve, carb, Renault5Turbo ran a 12.1 at RTOC National Day at SantaPod in July

Brasso 31-08-2004 07:42 PM

 Fairplay to them little fookers. Ita shame fwd Fords seem so wank at launchin.

Dont know any ERST's that have got into the 12's but Paul Ripleys old un is into mid 12's I think.

Jim Galbally 31-08-2004 07:44 PM

paul was high 12s IIRC

reno5s were the qtr mile kings...

... untill nissan invented he pulsar

sunny 31-08-2004 07:46 PM

watch this space :DD:

Brasso 31-08-2004 07:47 PM

Whens yours due to be finished Sunny??

B13F RS 31-08-2004 07:47 PM

PR's is a fiesta which is a good comparison against a R5GTT,those renaults do launch well and the full throttle gear changes make alot of difference too

I think the best proven RST is Jamsports with 13.2 at 110. My mate did a 13.2 at 108 at TOTB3 and a 13.7 at 114 at pod USC on low boost so should be running full soon which will be impressive!

MOONDUST FRST 31-08-2004 07:48 PM

Why do ren5gt's run so gooda 1/4's anyways :?

Brasso 31-08-2004 07:50 PM

Ello Marc. :DD: Made it over here then. :top:

Stavros 31-08-2004 07:52 PM

They dont get mega good launches, that car got a 2sec 60ft if i remember right, good for a FWD, but not amazing.

Jim- Why are pulsars king of the 1/4mile? Theres only 1 in the UK in the 10s i think.

MOONDUST FRST 31-08-2004 07:55 PM

Alrite brasso :D
Yeah come quite a bit on here just dont post that much
Read the poo about ya car the other day too, not good mate bet ya right fooked off :(

B13F RS 31-08-2004 07:55 PM

GTi R's are 4x4 anyway???? not a comparison imo

Sunny......... I'm watchin geezer

Brasso 31-08-2004 07:59 PM

Was when it all happened dude, not too fussed now its laughable really. Outgrown the car really too now, never really had it on the road. LOL

Gonna sort the engine and drop it in the festa.

I heard ya thinkin of a Skyline!?

Rick 31-08-2004 08:02 PM

whats the 5's terminal?

Shings 31-08-2004 08:04 PM

Yeh watch this space here too...

Stavros 31-08-2004 08:05 PM

Nothing special i dont think Rick, 112mph i think, or maybe 118, cant remember

AD-RS1600i 31-08-2004 08:05 PM

12.7 second run by Paul Ripleys old FRST at TOTB 3 is the fastest i've seen from a RST

Have to agree with the above, RSTs are sh*t at launching, R5s seem very good at lauching by comparison and considering how primative the engine is (i.e. carb + turbo + push rod engine?) produce awesome times!!! Although beware, I saw a R5 run a 12.5 second run at the pod, had a closer look and it was running full slicks and NOS!!!

Top stuff all round though!!!! :top:

Stavros 31-08-2004 08:09 PM

No NOS involved in this run, pump fuel too

Brasso 31-08-2004 08:13 PM

Low profile roadlegal track slicks on 15s im 90% sure, so not exactly ideal drag tyres

Brasso 31-08-2004 08:17 PM

Whats your previous best Sunny and terminal??

Shings, what was Tims best??

Jim Galbally 31-08-2004 08:24 PM

stsve, im talkin about cheap boyracerish cars and im stereotyping/generalising

Tim 31-08-2004 08:25 PM

13.5 lad on road tyres would have loved to try my slicks i recon there worth a second tbh :top: :top: :top:

Brasso 31-08-2004 08:28 PM

Good time mate. :top:

Why swap to a saph tho?? Better/more practical road car??

True Steve I hear that from a M8 whos involved with the R5 forum.

There is a few fuel injection 5's currently being built, and I know of a little cracker thats about to surface!

1400 with Trick Management Throttlebodies, Custom Inlet and Exhaust Manifolds fully Stripped....cant wait to see how it performs, its a belter :DD:

Stavros 31-08-2004 08:34 PM

Yea, theres a few mental ones being built running gordini heads, proper managment, throttle bodies, allsorts, but in a way they not GTTs anymore to me, i like my GTTs basic and crappy and STILL kicking ass

Tim 31-08-2004 08:35 PM

Brasso - The previous 1/4 mile times on my old spec engine were consistant 13.1 @ 124mph at just over 1 bar boost due to slipping clutch at TOTB2 on 'ok' road legal tyres.

Engine was supposed to be on the dyno any day now however Ahmed and Mountune agreed that at the level of horsepower where I am taking my new spec the weakest link would of been the block. Therefore we are stripping the engine again on Friday in preparation for the new 'custom machined' carbon enpregnated CGI block based on the works cars that mountune are machining for me as we speak with some extra secret modifications for peace of mind. Downside is that this has moved us back further in terms of actually getting the thing bolted on the dyno....Still gives me enough time to pay off for my AP triple plate carbon F1 clutch.

Also new car will have completely diffierent setup in terms of suspension and chassis to enable to hook as much power down as possible with the addition of some serious rubber. More power and more grip should mean faster and quicker times both 1/4's and top speed. :top:

Thanks - Sunny.

RANJ 31-08-2004 09:03 PM

ranj spec clutch u mean

Brasso 31-08-2004 09:04 PM

Your a fookin nutta!!   :top:

Awesome terminals mate, cant wait to see it next.

What do ya recon you'll do after tho?? Is this the last re-incarnation??

Fair play.

RANJ 31-08-2004 09:09 PM

i told sunny to ditch the whole idea, but the nutter wants to go faster

lol, top speeds/power achived even some of us cossie boys dont make it that high

sunny 31-08-2004 09:12 PM

This is the LAST time the engine spec is changing. Hopefully with the level of power I will be at with my new conversion I will physically not want anymore power (yes I did type that).

LOL @ Ranj spec clutch. :top:

Hopefully gonna better that soon. I received my lightweight Sparco seat in the post today (bout a third the weight of the old FRP Sparco. Tommorrow should see the the new wheels arrive bout 6 kilo's each. Car has had the heater & fan removed plus most of the dasha & all the uneeded crap from under the bonnet. Also the engine is gonna undergo a few improvments for more power.
