How do you go about removing rust from what supposed to be stainless steel that not ment to rust; have me been duffed or is it just low grade stainless prone to bit of rust? Try'd wire brush &sand paper &dremmel took the surface rust off and metal looks fine under but its taking me ages esp the pipes & brakets. I need a quick way to polish up loads of pipes and things any ideas?

Are you takling about an exhaust, i,ve seen loads where the brackets/flanges rust. ?

 

Depends on the grade of stainless steel used......if it's 304, it shouldn't rust (not easily, anyway, and not much, if looked after); if it's 409, it's designed to gain a full coat of surface-rust to protect against further corrosion.

But, yes, I was told to use a light-grade sandpaper to take the majority of the surface-rust off, then once it's down to metal, to buff that and treat it with metal-polish of some sort (I was pushing more for a full refund, than tips on getting rid of the rust, given that I'd asked for a stainless steel exhaust that I'd hoped would actually stay "stainless" for a bit longer than that one did)

Don't buy powerflow, i have seen quite a few made badly with poor materials.

 

Not a exhuast mate just some bits for diy that i left outside for months and forgot about

 

Any chance you could go back in time to early 2002, please, and tell me that BEFORE I buy mine?
