Default Engine mapping basics

Hi,

Can anybody suggest some good websites/books that I can take a look at to give me an insight to mapping.

Hoping to get Megasquirt over the summer on a standard 1.6 zetec to learn on.

thats a good basic start,,,, i wouldnt consern yourself so much with "learning too map" what you really need to do is learn how the engine is working! that why you understand why you do what you do when mapping

Learnt the basics, such as how cam and crank sensors, MAP, TPS, Temp, and Lambda sensors work and what they do.

Just looking at how to get a base ignition map and fuel map.

Join this site as a member and look in the technical archives section, stu has done some fantastic write ups.

Also ask away, quite a few of us have done a bit of "ameteur" mapping too as well as the pro's on the site like stu/karl/mark

What you really need though is a good basic understanding of what an engien requires to make it go well, the mapping itself is just attempting to achieve that, if you dont know the effects of ignition timing on an engine or different fuel mixtures,i would NOT recomed giving it a go just yet.
