Home on wednesday james, and i will be calling up to see my chum who got his sapphire cossie engine bay wire tucked 2 years ago, by the guy who has the moonstone blue transit cosworth on mk1 focus rs rims. Done a real fantastic job on my mates cossie!

Will get a contact number or info etc if you want?

cossiestu 01-10-2012 10:22 PM

Don't know why Ford couldn't of run the "Injector" loom underneath the Plenum, rather than above, would of looked a lot better...
Yours looks neat Paul! :)

james kiely 01-10-2012 10:25 PM

everything in your engine bay paul is so big you cant see the wiring lol.

great engine bay paul :DD:

yes exactly my point a few simple changes would have made a big difference

Paul_RS 01-10-2012 10:28 PM

Sure most of mine is standard, bar the breather tank really lol. If you are looking better photos of what way i've done the wiring i'll take some at the weekend?

It's not as neat as I'd like yet, but that mostly the bits nobody can see

I thought the same about the injector loom, which is exactly why i ran my injector loom under the rail and plenum as much as possible.

cossiestu 01-10-2012 10:34 PM

The only thing that put me off trying to re route mine underneath, but was worried if I bent my loom around too much, it would probably break!
Plus, I assume you'd need to lengthen the feed to each injector and I can't solder for shit! Lol

Paul_RS 01-10-2012 10:38 PM

True, the standard looms go quite hard over time lol. Breaking a wire is very likely

james kiely 01-10-2012 10:45 PM

that would be good paul cheers

the wiring down the drivers side chasis leg and running across the bulkhead annoys the tits off me

R5COS 01-10-2012 10:51 PM

Pet hate of mine on sapphires... Engine bay of mine is a mess and it drives me mad looking at it... A escos is far neater with the larger bulkhead plastic it hides most of it..... BTW got that news today James i was waiting on ill ring you tomorrow :ban-split:

james kiely 01-10-2012 10:59 PM

thats great mate ,will chat tomorow

Nail, head, they were built to a price and not very well either

People seem to forget they they are just Sierra's with a Cosworth engine, a lesser model isn't too bad in it's own right but the Cosworth has more wiring etc and less room to play with.

Paul_RS 02-10-2012 04:04 PM

The original loom is far too long. It loops round on itself behind the plastic multiplugs. Makes no sense why Ford did it like that

BRAMMER 02-10-2012 05:35 PM

I just wished i had the time, parts and a little more skill to rewire the car loom as wires do break over time it's inevitable, it tidied the loom that goes through to the engine bay from the drivers side and up behind the dash but i had to do a good few repairs on the car loom under the bonnet in the corner below the PAS tank i had to replace a 5" section where it had been messed with in the past and water had got in - it's fine but like i said ideally wants new.

james kiely 02-10-2012 05:43 PM

a couple of things im gonna try or get a auto electricain to do

battery to the boot on the drivers side

new junction box at the fuse box so i can get rid of the existing wiring at the battery

headlight s, indicaters ,loom will go in the drivers side chasis leg away from the heat from the turbo
replace the altenater wiring from the existing loom

reroute the abs wiring and tidy up around the brake reservoir/mastercylinder

i have a new pectel engine loom so that should be ok ,hopefully i can hide it away a bit on the engine whilst its out

Rod-Tarry 02-10-2012 06:33 PM

Battery in the boot cures a lot of unsightly wires.

Paul_RS 02-10-2012 06:37 PM

You've just replaced the wires with pipes though  :blabla:

It's hard to make a YB look tidy IMO, they don't really lend themselves to wire tucks etc like say some older VWs or Hondas.

ajamesc 02-10-2012 07:37 PM

All my positive wires go into a junction box so only one gos to the battery via an isolator. Id never stick my battery in the boot because then id be left with an great big unsightly empty space where it was lol

james kiely 02-10-2012 08:10 PM

well the heated screen loom is now no more ,

the only time it will be out is when the sun is shing lol

i dont know what your talking about rod that bay is a disgrace lol:cry::cry:

Gav Diamond 03-10-2012 03:17 AM

Spent a few weeks on mine shortening some cables and making others longer to hide it all.
Alot of mine is now behind the bulkhead panel or on the chassis rails

Sonic Boom 03-10-2012 07:14 AM

I'd like to have my wiring tidied up it does look pretty unsightly.
The bit to left by the fuse box is terrible:

Paul_RS 03-10-2012 05:36 PM

What i did is when i had my engine out i routed all the wiring looms really neatly, bought new harness clips etc etc. Then as i refitted more parts to the car i made sure the wiring to them was as neat as possible.

What is all the wiring near you fusebox?

thats spot on andy :god:

Paul_RS 03-10-2012 10:08 PM

That looks really good! Escort bays lend themselves to a clean look far better than Sierras.

What hose clamps have you used?
