New production side skirt clips
Hi! As Ford no longer supplies the clips for the side skirts i am looking on making a new production of them. I,ve got a friend who is able to make them. we are also looking at different plastics to increase the durability of them, as tha standard ones are crap. Is there any intrest of these in UK for your cossies?
Cheers! Johnny Lehti. |
There will be mate!!!
Especially the Escort ones!! :top: :top: |
if u are taking abouth the side skirt clips for a sapphire then they are still available as my new set came last week.
have to agree they are crap though  |
Yes, there may be some in stock left, but in Sweden there are not any left, so they will be running out soon i guess! And the quality is as it is anyway.
|
if u get some better versions then get them posted on here :D
|
I bought originals and 3/4 of them broke, even though i filed them to ease the fit. Well pissed off coz they cost a fortune.
Metal ones with rubber inserts would be perfect. I bent a few pieces of aluminium and screwed them diectly into the sill lip. |
I,ll let you know how it goes! we will have a closer look at it next week.
Johnny. |
Also make some of these please,no longer available from Ford :( :( :(

|

|
Asap! I need them before 12th march! No pressure or anything :DD:
|
I made some metal side skirt clips, I bent them to the shape of the plastic ones and used silicone to attach them to the sills.
All that it cost was the price of a pair of cheap tin snips and the metal was bent in my vice. |
Okay, seems like there is a big interest in those parts! I see if i can have the parts for the bumper made aswell. I just need a set to copy, but we have some parts in stock! I,ll be back!

Has anyone tried dropping the Clips into hot water before fitting to stop them snapping?
My mate who works at Ford did this when restoring his Saph and said it stopped them snapping. |
Any luck in making some sapphire sideskirt clips? neen a couple myself also for the front corner sideskirt
|
Hi! we have made a prototype in Aluminium which is mounted with two small screws that clamp on the car, and a hole in it where you attach the sideskirt with a small screw instead of a rivet. Much easier to remove. I get back with prices for a complete set when i know the production cost for them. These will not break!
Johnny. |
woot!!!!! ill take a set of these mine all broke when i took the side skirts
off, plastic fantastic oe crap :top: |
Johnny, what about the side brackets for the bumper?

If I remember correctly, aluminium is the sacrificial material when in contact with steel, I am sure if you use steel rivets on aluminium panels it is the panel that corrodes around the rivet and the panel then falls off, should be fine though if the steel is painted as it will stop the reaction, I am only about 70% sure of this though as been a long time since I was at college.

Johnny. So even with a crusty sill u can still fit um ;) |
Any more news on this because i would DEFINATELY be interested!
I've had 2 sets of them now and they're shite. :wall: |
does anyone know what holds the front part of the saff sideskirt the bit with the jacking cover in as the back end of mine sticks out is there a clip to hold it to the sill
|
Yeah, the side skirts are held on by plastic brackets that rivet to the skirt and push onto the sill.
I have the same problem with mine, i've had 2 sets of them but the plastic is really brittle and they break so easily! THey should still be available from fords though. |
will have trip to fords tomoz
