350bhp RS Turbo BITS ADDED!! Going Going....!!

3 Attachment(s)
Well, as Michael Jackson said, THIS IS IT.

The end of my RS Turbo. I’ve lost the love and am craving something modern and sensible. This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made, it’s been with me for over 10 years and we’ve been through a lot together.

Attachment 163227

I know its only talk, but I had seriously planned on 180mph this year, I KNOW the car would have done it. The power curve was better in every way, on boost earlier and making only 25lb/ft less torque at 7200rpm than it had at 4500rpm, which is quite unreal. 172mph was achieved at 7000rpm, on a power curve that was all done by then, it now has at least 400rpm of extra usable power, which equals at least 175mph. It’s not seen its full potential since being refitted to the car as I really don’t have the motivation any more. :( Frankly its scary as fuck to drive and I am getting old now.

Please read what follows VERY CAREFULLY, as this thread is going to be strict. I’ve got all the time in the world and am in no rush to sell these parts really, but I will not be messed about. So, the rules are simple. Below is a list of parts. Of course all these parts are fitted to my car right now and have been for a little while, so are in various states of condition. I will indicate with each part if there is anything notable, but otherwise assume everything is in good used condition. All parts can be seen on various parts of my resto thread, so don’t ask for pics, it’s obvious I can’t do that right now. Naturally, you all know that this car is highly modified and all parts were designed around this car. It may be that some parts will need further modifications to fit them, I will try and detail that where I can. Please think it through before you show an interest.

***Update - I have included some pics to save you trawling the resto thread. Obviously these pics are not necessarily of the parts as they are now, but I have spoken of the condition of parts elsewhere in this thread***

The car itself has done around 60,000 miles from new (I don’t know the precise mileage as it now has an AIM dash, but when I removed the original clocks, they were on about 56,000 miles). I am the 4th official owner on the log-book. The 1st wrote the car off at 3 months old, the 2nd bought the salvage and repaired it properly (I have Ford receipts for the shell/panels etc), then gave it to their mother to drive for the next 10 years (she was 70 odd when we bought it from her), the 3rd was my girlfriend (not Beccy!) and the 4th is me as I bought it from her when we split up. Hopefully that will give you an idea as to the condition of the relevant parts.

Once you say you want a part, your username will be listed beside that part along with an update of whether you’ve paid etc. If you mess me around I will simply let the part go to someone else. Priority will go to known members for obvious reasons. Nothing will be sent until it is paid for in full, obviously larger parts will be collection only (Norfolk). I am a very skilled internet detective, so don’t think about fleecing me, I will find you!! Sorry this is all so strict, but with the recent spate of people getting ‘had’ on here, I will not be a victim!! Especially not when this whole process will be traumatic for me anyway. If its too much agro, I will simply pull out and it'll end up on Ebay.

Postage prices are £10 per 10kg parcel. I will only send what I can fairly easily box up. Smaller parts can be posted using Royal Mail services, we can discuss this once you've bought. Obviously once all the sales are proceeding, I will get the car apart FAST and all parts will then be available. Although I'm in no actual hurry, I would still like it done and dusted as quickly as possible.

Payment is preferred by bank payment/transfer, cheque (with 5 days to clear) or if you really have to, Paypal (I'll not pay the fee's though and I'd rather not use these scamming bastids).

So, here goes.......

Engine. 1600cc CVH. Original block for the car, which was low mileage to start with. Standard virgin crank (never been machined, hence its at its strongest). Was built when the car was on 52,000 miles, so has done 8000 miles now. The block was fully refaced. line-honed and balanced when it was first built. When the engine went back in the car last year, it was rebuilt again apart from the rings and was fitted with new ACL bearings (there wasn’t really anything wrong with old ones) and all new gaskets. It has Farndon Steel Rods, Ross Racing 80.5mm Forged Pistons to my spec, Ultra-rare Cross-hatch head, custom ported and with Stainless Inlet/Exhaust Valves. A custom spec Newman cam is fitted (which will suit 300-350bhp), along with solid lifters and single valve springs (these were fitted 3 weeks ago and have done about 50 miles so will need the clearances checking again in a few hundred miles). The sump is baffled and fitted with an M12 temperature boss and the oil pickup has been modified to suit the baffled sump. The block is painted black, the head is painted silver. The rocker cover isn’t included (incase anyone wants it to go with the plenum etc, however, if nobody else wants it, it will go with the engine), neither are any ancillaries. This engine has proven 351bhp, done just under 172mph, well, you know all that. It’s nicely run in having spent the first 3000 miles of its life on mineral oil and I shit you not, it has had at least 15 oil changes!! It’s a proven tried and tested engine, ready to go. - £2995

AH Fabrications Single Pass Cooler Kit. This was made to my design and based around my precise set-up. You will need to cut semi-circular holes in the front panel for the pipes to pass through, but these are not visible once the bumper is on, I can supply pictures of this if you buy it. I would suggest that you may need to modify the pipework, depending entirely on where your turbo is etc. It has light fin damage, I caught it with the pressure washer and straightened it out, but its nothing serious. £350

Spal 11” Slimline Fan - £50

Spal 11” Slimline Fan - £50

T38 Ball Bearing Turbo - See HERE

Attachment 163229

Tubular Manifold 3mm wall thickness and with External Wastegate port to suit Tial (or similar) 38mm Wastegate. This was based on an £800 Evo manifold, adapted by me. It’s bullet proof and is not going to crack. It does go quite high and close to the bonnet, so you may need to look at that, the engine was lowered in my car, so this wasn’t a problem. It did the 172mph run with the engine at standard height though, so it can be done. I will throw in the Screamer Pipe, but you may need to mess around with that to suit your application - £600 Now £500

....and I'll throw in my 3" downpipe and wastegate screamer pipe assembly, which although will want altering to suit your setup, will give a good start!!

3” Bore Mongoose Exhaust with 4" Unsilenced Tailpipe. This is not a complete exhaust. It only goes as far as the back of the engine, so would suit someone that is building their own downpipe. The join under the gear shifter has been welded up. Good condition - £150

Series 1 Vibratechnics competition gearbox mounts (as new) - £70

Team Dynamics Pro Race 2 7x16” Wheels. These are in fairly good condition on the faces, no kerb damage, but the fronts have got quite heavy damage on the inside where stones got trapped between the caliper and wheel. I have included 205/45/16 Goodyear Eagle GSD3 tyres that have done very little mileage. They have no centre-caps, I never ran them. Priced to reflect condition. - £375 1. Redeye Jedi

'90 Spec Bumper. Brand new in a bag. Genuine Ford. In Primer. - £100

Stack 52mm Fuel Level Gauge (Black). Not very old. Easy to calibrate. By the time I put it back in the box, you'll probably not know it'd ever been fitted!! - £60

Smoked Rear Lights - £25 (pair)

Standard Wheel with original 195/50/15 Goodyear Eagle GS-D+ tyre (was my spare) - £30

'90 Spec Recaro Front and Rear Seats. MINT condition. NO rips/tears/burns. £200.

'90 Spec Dash. MINT condition. Has Clifford LED fitted on the top, in the centre. I'm sure its uncut apart from that though, no Glovebox included (well, you can have it, but it is cut!). £50

Steel Braided Oil Feed with Bailey Inline Filter - £30

Parcel Shelf (excellent condition but missing one of the rubber hanger wotsits) - £30

EFi Fuel Rail including adaptor for remote regulator (can be removed) - £15

MTX Mounts/Brackets/Shifter etc. This is a box of bits intended to give you a good starting point if you want to fit the early RS2000 style MTX gearbox. It is NOT intended to be a bolt-on kit. Included is the rear mount (2 parts) and Billet Alloy front mount (1 part). It does not include the 2nd part to the front mount which will need to be made and welded to the Chassis. You'll also need a pair of S1 style gearbox mounts. I'll also include the drivers-side mount, hybrid shifter I used (this was temporary and is a combination of standard RST and RS2000, but it is worn), the clutch cable/arm. Please remember that my engine was lowered 30mm, but you can probably adapt these parts if you want to run standard height - £100

K&N Filter (as new) 76mm 3" Neck with 45° adaptor and silicone hoses (these can be taken off to just leave the filter) - £50

More parts to be added as I get the time. Please keep this thread sensible and questions only as really needed.

Never thought I would see the day!

Good luck with the sale of parts, although im sure you wont need it given how few truely proven RST's there actually are out there!

good luck with it..car's a credit to you..LEGEND

massivewangers 24-09-2009 09:58 PM

The death of a legend :(

Finest RST ever. Not tempted to give it one last crack of the whip before it comes apart? Just to see what it can do?

Believe me, I've thought about that long and hard, but I just can't do it. The car and the latest batch of development of the last 2 years has really taken it out of me. Someone can buy all the hard work that effectively ended my enjoyment of this car. Kinda ironic really. :(

Thanks for the comments. :)

massivewangers 24-09-2009 10:03 PM

No problem mate

You know I worship the bloody thing  One of the cars thats just made a massive impact, blown me away the couple of times I was lucky to go in it!

Just a shame you aren't going to get out there in it and see what it can do before you take it apart. Would love to see what it's capable of.

But I'll shut up, you don't need me trying to change your mind :cry::cry:

Luca 24-09-2009 10:08 PM

Shame to see mate, was looking forward to seeing this in action.

Cant see you having any issues selling that spec, just the tears to hide!

All the best.

I need to secure a buyer for the running gear before I pull it apart.

how much for complete car?

tezmanian devil 25-09-2009 07:45 PM

i want the gearbox, but i gota pay for my engine in a week or so
is it from an rs2000? and has the mounting's been modded to suit your car, or would it just bolt straight back in a mk5/6?
and the oil cooler kit, does this come with braided line's and aeroquip's? how long are the line's aswel?

ZETEC-Ste 25-09-2009 07:59 PM

is the front bumper with the top bit cut out forsale as in the picture if yes how much? cheers

Herbo747 25-09-2009 08:05 PM

god this car is awesome real shame to see so many years of development and effort have to be broken but sometimes thats just the best way. i sincerely hope you get what you want from the car and that the pieces live on putting many more smiles on many more faces no doubt like they did yours. if i weren't so skint at the min i would be spending big time, maybe even the whole car! good luck mate.

OK, will get something sorted soon, but you're first on the list for that.

The cars not for sale whole I'm afraid. This decision has been hard enough, I don't ever want to see it again. Obviously IF it were, the price would have to be within a reasonable shout of the total price of the parts. ;)

It is from a Mk5/6 TDi, which is the same as RS2000. The gearbox, once removed from the car, will fit back into a Mk5/6 no worries. My mounts were entirely bolt-on. If you wanted it but couldn't pay for a month or so, I would hold it for you with a deposit. ;)

I've got a few PM's to trawl through, people will be added to the list in the order they showed interest, you're not #1 for that ARB I'm afraid. :?

Now, that I have no idea about. But let me tell you a bit about it. You know the ID history, because I said that above.

Take into account that the sunroof has been plated over and the battery has been relocated to the boot. The front strut brace has brackets welded to the turrets (I'll include that brace with the shell). All holes that aren't needed in the engine bay have been welded up and it has a bracket on the lower inner wing for the gearbox. What I am trying to say is that the shell is past putting back to standard IMO. What do you have planned for it?

When you say trimmed shell, what exactly do you mean?

Christian and Beccy 25-09-2009 10:26 PM

Also, the underneath is VERY solid, but I imagine it needs rear arches. The bodykit is starting to blow. However, it doesn't have the inner sill rot that almost EVERY Escort shell ever has.

Alex_86 25-09-2009 10:45 PM

so who is that then?

RstAaron. 25-09-2009 10:57 PM

Gutted about this mate but needs must etc. I might be able to build mine up to be the fastest white S2 in the Norfolk Group now!!

Christ, I remember seeing this outside Rainbird's parents back in 2000. It was a lovely straight car back then and you've been through so much with it since. I also remember you takign me out in it a year later and watching it fly past the end of the clocks :DD:

It's a shame to see it come to this dude but I guess everything comes to an end eventually.

Hope you get what you want for it :)

Neil.
