Default mk1 2.0 de-cat advice

evening all
i want to de-cat my focus, im picking up a st170 manifold next weekend and would like to know what flexi pipe to use ie; 2.0 one or the st one? also im guessing i will need a de-cat pipe to replace the 170 cat, are the ones on ebay any good? must be okay for a £100. any advice would be great.

You will need the ST flex and a de-cat pipe. People over here in The State haven't had many problems with eBay pipes but sometime you get what you pay for. Might as well be safe and pay the extra 50.

Don't bother. For 2-3 bhp that you would never ever notice gives you all the hassle of driving around in an illegal car that will need a cat putting back on to pass the mot.

I put a decat on my st, made no difference at all so went back to the sports cat. Use the cash for something else that will made a difference like better brakes / suspension etc.

you needed
st170 manifold around £70
st170 decat around £60 new from larkspeed
st170 fexi around £20 used
st170 dip stick tube around £10 from ford

its mostly straight forward swap but you have to mod the fexi to fit the 2.0 system as st exhaust bore is 2.25 and the 2.0 is 1.75 roughly so theres no point in buying a new fexi pipe. Also undo the pas pipe nut abit and twist the pipe out so she dont boil the pas fuild.
