high mileage engines are fine at under 10 psi, will go on forever with regular oil changes etc,
turn your boost up, then within a couple of thousand miles, its Mr Knock at the bottom end

must of had a hard life, who knows! no FSH but PSH, but it was the car
i wanted, not the engine, no rust or ought etc.
julia, realised mine neede a rebuild after it starts getting noisy,
a noticeable thing is a growl kind of noise coming from engine when
letting of, a sign the bottom end is a tad worn, if you look at my old thread
of the engine rebuild you will see the state it were in

rickyboy, Nice mate
Julia, Mine had done approx 130k and I knew it hadn't had a rebuild. I wanted more power and thought that there was no point doing that to an old engine, so went for a full upgrade rebuild. So mine was more of a prevention with a view to further upgrades.
If your engine is working well, set-up properly, and you're looking after it right (as in regular servicing and fitting/ using quality parts) then there *should* be no reason for a rebuild. From your earlier post, the car's been well looked after before & you are carrying this on, so just see how it goes & what your plans are going to be with it.

Mine did 176'181 on it's original engine - which was still going strong!! Have kept the old engine, couldn't part with it after that
The car itself has covered almost 180k, but could pass for having done a fraction of that mileage - a credit to the time and attention given to it from the old owner

why would you change that? If that 56k is genuine DO NOT interfere with that, id MUCH rather buy an original 56k than a rebuilt engine and at that miles surely its nowhere needing it???

Its funny how many of the UK RST's have low milage.... why??
I live oversea, and mine have 170k miles on the clock... but it have been restored and almost everything have been changed... but I bought it 4 years ago, and at that time it have 120k miles on the clock
and u have to be VERY lucky to find a low milage RST her in Denmark
