Zetec sumps and flywheel question

Morning guys

Just need to know a few things

Im going 2.0 blacktop zetec turbo with a mondeo engine in my s2

Firstly flywheels.
I understand I need a 1.8 zetec one.
Can I use a cvh efi flywheel and open up the bolt holes ?
If so can I do it myself or does it have to be done by an engineering company ?

Also sumps
I need a 1.8 zetec sump and pick up.
But Is a 1.6 zetec sump And pick up the same ?

And thirdly cams

My head is missing the u brackets that run between the cam lobes to bolt the cam shaft down ( the bearing cap things) lol.
Can I take these from any zetec head ?

I've been offered a free 1.6 zetec lump you see so I'm seeing if it's worth getting to use any bits

Cheers guys

afaik the cam caps are individual to the head so unless you have it linebored (sp) I suggest finding another complete head.

What management are you gonna use, mfi rs turbo flywheel has no pick up/trigger setup

stevealien 25-10-2011 06:37 PM

What is line bored ?

And I'm running omex
Cheers mate

google it, I understand what it would entail but describing it is another thing

xNORMSKIx 25-10-2011 06:46 PM

1.6 sump, pick up pump, water pump and flywheel all fit.

xNORMSKIx 25-10-2011 06:54 PM

silvertop that is......

stevealien 25-10-2011 08:33 PM

I got a blacktop ,and if it's true I have to junk the head cos the cam caps are missing I'm gonna be seriously fucked off.

LukeDaisley 25-10-2011 08:40 PM

I will have a 2.0l silvertop for sale next month with a 1.8 sump with oil returns fitted. £150

as a rule afaik the caps are individual to the engine/head, but you could speak tomachine shop etc

stevealien 26-10-2011 05:39 AM

Thanks for info so far guys

Stu, cheers for asking the question on the other site , appreciate that mate.
Hopefully I'll get away with it , I'll speak to my machine shop

stevealien 26-10-2011 10:10 AM

Spoke to the machine shop and they reckon the head is scrap without the original cam caps.
The line boring is done at factory from new , and to be done would cOst hundreds.
And apparently if I was to buy new cams I would use the old caps so that doesn't help me either.
Just gotta hope the guy I got the engine off of can find the caps as they are numbered

studabear 26-10-2011 12:33 PM

Ah shit news man, hope he has got them somewhere. Suppose another head will be easy to get hold of but its more costs.

stevealien 29-10-2011 09:05 AM

So what's my sump options guys ? Only a 1.8 zetec or is 1.6 the same ?

clarke5700 29-10-2011 10:28 AM

Caps can not be swaped from head to head and must also be fitted in the place they are removed hence they are numbered.

You can use a 1.8 or 1.6 sump if you are using a silvertop engine yes.

You can also use a cvh efi flywheel yes but you will still need the 1.8 cps and bracket

mk1turboestate 29-10-2011 11:09 AM

iv got a 1.8 sump with a breather on oil return welded on the front and a breather on the back if anyone wants to make an offer

luke19790_3 29-10-2011 12:16 PM

just use the blacktop sump, i've used a 1.8 and 2.0 one look the same.

are you using a ib5/bc gearbox? the 1.6/1.8 focus flywheel is 220mm.

Adam. 29-10-2011 12:22 PM

im using the standard rst gbox for now, although i do have 2 mtx75 boxes which i will be working on in the meantime.

i thought the rst exhaust wouldnt pass under the 2.0 sump?
doesnt the 1.8 sump have a step in it?

bomsch 04-11-2011 03:03 PM

With 1,8 sump you must also make a elbow for downpipe.
1,8 and 2,0 heads should be the same, only camshafts are different.
