Can't get a gear :(

ok, i can select gear no problem at all with engine off.
but once running, can only go up, with difficulty, can't change down.
also when depressing clutch with engine going, makes a little bit of a jangly noise, to make things worse, when the boyfriend got i home for me, it wouldn't idle at all (he was in second) wanted to creep forward

any help, as always, greatly appreciated :content:

mm sounds like sounds clutch related to me, either the reliease bearing, or the pressure plate, also check the clutch arms not bent as that can effect the clutch engaging, when ya other half got it home did he use the clutch or crunch gear it

New clutch time...

thanks so far guys :)

when the bf drove it home, had to turn it off to get a gear, once started could drive it, just about...

got details on the clutch, its a Alcon 6 plate paddle, question is, it all happened on the same day, fine the day before, hell the next...can the plate really fail that quickly?

also a bit concerned as with all the "syptoms" the haynes manual says that its more likely the selector rods, or synomesh that is more likely at fault?

what do you think?

It's 100% not the gearbox as this can in no way make the car creep forwards, it's either the clutch as already said or the quadrant/ratchet is worn or your clutch cable has stretched.

Ahh the good old Haynes book of lies.. As per above
