Cosworth Brakes

Hi
Will 2wd cosworth front calipers/disc fit onto mk4 hubs?

I've seen you use 4wd calipers and 2wd disc but not seen anything about running 2wd calipers and disc together?

cheers

they will but you need to get some metal shaved off the hub/caliper to get them to go on (I've got them on my RS)

I can't remember off the top of my head how much, Ryan on here knows though

very easy, 3-4mm needs to be machined off the calliper mounting lugs.

job done :top:

just out of interest, can you fit this setup under the standard s2 rims?

ok heres 1 for ya.

I know if i buy cossie discs I can buy a dracket and keep my S2 calipers.

but if I was to use 4x4 calipers and a 2wd disc would I need anytype of bracket or would it bolt up to the standard erst stuff?

cheers :top:

I couldn't get standard S2 rims to fit mate... :wall:

even my 17s needed a small spacer to clear the caliper

I'm pretty sure with this combination all you need is a 1mm washer to align the carrier centrally over the disc.

This combination will go under standard rims, 2wd calipers however won't :(

isint it easier to fit st24 break set up?

scottbrown 16-09-2006 05:00 PM

oh right so no bracket needed?? hmmmmmmmm

so which are better 2wd or 4wd calipers? are they 4 pots?

SafeChav 16-09-2006 05:06 PM

Well i think u need the 4wd hanger aswell, but apart from the washer they bolt straight on!

2wd calipers should be better in theory, as they are 4 pots. :top:

I believe so.

If you want to do a 2wd set up u could buy some discs and bells with the correct offset so you don't have to machine anything. And tapping the holes in the hubs couldnt be easier, they are already 10.2mm which is the hole size needed to tap an M12 thread ;) :top:

Bells could well be the wrong word i ALWAYS get it wrong.

Basically, you buy the disc part, and can get different offset centres that bolt to the disc to space the disc accordingly. Most places that sell the likes of AP Wilwood etc calipers will also sell them :)
