what filter is that? is that a escort boost hose that it fits straight into?

gus 11-07-2006 06:49 PM

whats the brass bit in the hose aswell

SafeChav 11-07-2006 07:54 PM

Bleed valve duhhhhh :blabla: ;)

JesseT 11-07-2006 08:03 PM

It's actually a pressure relief valve.
The blue thing is not a hose, but stainless pipe. The filteris a Simota filter. Just one of the cheap ones that one changes after each winter.

gus 11-07-2006 08:06 PM

ok my bad

SafeChav 11-07-2006 08:23 PM

Yes, but for boost controlling. The compressor is connected through the relief valve to the wastegate actuator. So if pressure is under the set relief pressure, no air is going to the actuator. This makes the turbo spin up a bit faster as compared to a bleed valve.
In any case, I'm back to using the Åmål-valve partly mapped to imitate the relief valve.

About the filter again, my Orion just had the filter straight on the turbo. Although it looked like a bit stupid way of doing it, it was by far the fastest car I've ever been in, and I've been in a few RSTs and Cossies. Just makes me think if it really makes a difference in a turbo car where from one takes the air.

ok, on pic of mine. the filter is a group A cossie induction kit cone and the pipework im not sure of as i bought the filter off a guy off here and got the pipework off him to. its made up of a piece of sillicon turbing at each end, and a polished bit of aluminium pipe work
