Default insurance help.

right then. I have 4 yrs no claims in use on my punto with my bro as a named driver. This is on a policy with tesco. now problem starts. I want to get a 2nd car as my bro has the punto 75% of the time as i use a bike for work. but tesco wont let me have 2 cars on the policy and i cant cancel the tesco policy as it was paid upfront and its half way through. the refund is only sommit like 20%, and i would lose half a years ncb. but my main question is.. Are there any companies out there who would honour my ncb that are in use with tesco on a new policy if that makes sense. Or do i basically have to wait till june and fuck my bro off onto his own policy and then buy a car for me?

cheers

Hi Scott,

Technically, you would have to start from scratch on the NCB front, but we do have a number of underwriters that will recognise the discount under your first policy and "mirror" your NCB percentage discount onto the 2nd vehicle.

We understand that you have helped your brother out by insuring the vehicle in your name and using your NCB to do so, in the same way that parents historically have done. To keep things above board and you on the straight and narrow with your insurer you will have had to declare your brother as the main user of the vehicle, as most insurers have wised up to this situation and will almost always rate on the youngest driver and some may even refuse to allow the NCB with the youngster present.

With regard to introductory discounts and mirrored bonus, we are unable to mirror NCB where there are other/younger drivers present. However, we would be able to mirror your percentage discount providing that it was just you driving.

If you'd like a quotation and get a few minutes spare, pop onto www.greenlightinsurance.com/passion_ford.php or call us on 01277 263030 to see what we can do.

Kind regards

Tony
