Default shuddering brakes I'm stumped!!!!

My S2 has an annoying problem at the moment. When cold the brakes operate without judder or anything. Once I've given the car a bit of stick though when I apply the brakes the steering wheel feels like it's going to leap out of my hands it vibrates so much. Also the steering seems to get heavier which I am assuming is connected.

The brakes are ST170 and the ABS has been removed. Any ideas as the car is due on track at Ford Fair and I'm a bit relluctant to take it out like this?

have you painted the calipers? I had exact same prob fine when cold juddered when warm not all the time very strange tried all sorts as discs and pads where quite new, in the end changed discs and pads fine since...
also noticed on mine paint was on the pad carrier cleaned off at the same time maybe that could of caused a problem?? (stopping the pad from sliding cleanly)
Hope this helps...
