hell no ! about 3 grand cheaper for an equivilant year/mileage !

and then you get ESP/TCS/EDL etc etc climate control - all of which the focus rs has none

we will agree to disagree, to me it's the whole driving experience/looks

the seat just doesnt push the right buttons. you have a bike in your avitar, coz it has 2 wheels doesnt mean its not as good as a car right? i mean on a bike you get 2 wheels less, no roof, no cd player etc etc you buy one because that's what you want.

I want to do track days this year and for me the Focus is the better car.

yes too true , but i bought one of the best bikes out there for the cash, i could have payed 2k more and had 50 hp less - makes sense pal !! ]

all this RS stuff is just a bullshit has been name, the focus does nothing more for a 'drivers car' than any other car in the same bracket its nothing special when compared to the other marques in this bracket, in fact it does less than all of them

i believe it drives better.....but maybe thats just me

as i said before i sold my 330bhp+ cossie and wanted something different, i was torn between a Golf R32 and Civic Type R. I even thought about and Evo. I looked at loads of cars and never even thought of a Focus RS....how i ended up with it i still dont know. I drove it and it was just "me". Hard to explain but i just enjoyed it and thats what a car should be

so what ever car she goes for she needs to try loads and pick one that feels right

anyway never looked back. Now i just got to get kim to buy a civic Type R and then i can have both l

but now she wants and Escort Cossie

im bemused IF 'its not a marque thing' why anyone would spend 16k on a 03 plate car ( for eg) when you could spend 13k on an 03 plate car and get so many more extras than if you bought the focus, its not as if the focus is a cheap car to tune i.e less than any other, if its down to personal preferance of the looks then thats fair enough.

The golf....was....ummm......boring and that was the car i wanted most

TBH I would spend that sort of money on a Mk5 Golf GTi 2.0 Turbo. Not a Ford, but I would say it wont depreciate as much and you'll get more in terms of extras. And the image is a better one than the FRS. Or the FST.

thought i had explained my reasons....sorry cant explain it any better.

if extras are all thats important to you when buying a car then thats your choice. From a bike owner i thought you'd understand that extras arn't everything.

i'll give up on this one, i was just trying to say to FE'Z'OE the Focus is a good car and fun to drive and for the money she said she'd get a good one. How this got into a Marque thing .....i dont know.

Ive driven most these things (not a Focus ST yet tho) and i fucking love the Mk5 Golf GTI turbo. Awesome all round car. The handling etc is great, so much so id really think id not want to change the wheels or suspension for the risk of spoiling it (drive a Astra VXR for proof of flashy wheels etc can easy ruin a good car).

Leon Cupra Rs are great too.

Haven't picked it up yet. Compared to driving the ST it feels a lot more "raw" if you like and definitely more an enthusiasts car than the ST, think of a chipped RST but with VERY sorted handling/brakes and you get the idea.
I've gone for the RS cos I have a "thing" for them, had the Cossie for 10 years and always wanted 2 in the garage.
Also it's a financial thing, coming from a Boxster that lost £500 in 15 months I wanted something that short term will keep it's value, and compared to the ST I think the RS will do that very well.
BTW, £15.5k buys a VERY good one.

FRS prices are starting to vary alot with mileage and condition now I would still want 17k for mine as its mint and has only done 7.5k but there are loads of bargins out there for the everyday cars

I almost had a run in with a new Blue ST saturday on the A13 he was allready rolling at about 50-60 and I was in 2nd at about 15mph on a rounderbout as soon as he see me he gunned it and I gunned it after ALOT of wheel spinning and a backfire(plugs are knackered) I caught him and then we hit heavy traffic end of so i havent a clue how quick they really are

also had a play with an Honda S2000 quick but FRS is quicker and went out in a 350z after taking its owner out in mine and even stevens in straight line speed was impressed 350z is a nice car

Having driven all the cars mentioned here in both Standard and Modified Form, as a pure driving car with great feedback and chassis out of teh box i would go For the Focus RS. If i didnt care about how it actually drove and handled and wanted a great all round package with plenty of toys id choose the Seat Cupra.

You can pick up a 1 or 2 owner 03 plate with under 30K for around the £14K mark these days.

Quite a bit of car for your money in my opinion.

Plus there's lots more tuning options for them now they've been around a while.
