2 years

imo start a new policy and then cancel it after a month then it starts the2 years over again

Sure I was told 2 years. That's why when the Fes joins my Escort on classic we will insure the buss each year alternating between us to keep both no claims alive

It's up to the insurer concerned as to what they accept, but as a rule of thumb most will stick with the 2 year rule. They may well accept the NCB if you have a plausible reason why it hasn't been in use, i.e. been driving a company car and can provide a letter from your employer to back this up ....

most classic policies insist on you have another vehicle available anyway.

i just buy (or accept for free) and 3rd party insure an old bin every couple of years.

A piece of crap you couldnt care less about can be great fun!
