ok ppl in town car is ok but get it on the open road it starts getting hot????????????

as stupid as this sounds it could be a shagged water pump...... being efficent enough for town driving but not good enough when u give it some grief..... just a idea

hiya mate,
could a sticking thermostat there about 8 quid to buy and 20 mins to fit i'd try that first

rad could be blocked (dreaded rad weld etc). try taking it off & cleaning it out with high pressure water. i've had this problem a few times before.
