ok,
i've always believed all cossie idle speed control valves were the same, but read on a couple of posts 2wd and 4wd's are different.
if so wots different, fitment ? and how can you tell the difference?
Can they be tested?
Thanks Danny

there are defo different versions of cossie iscv, i recently bought one and it was different internally, i have no clue which is which but the one i bought wouldn't allow the car to idle ( dunno if there is an adjustment ? ) but what i had originally on the car had only 1 spring inside, the replacement had 2 springs and doesn't work on my car ( yet ). i'll see if i can make a good 'un of the two, but it looks like they have different resting positions internally
They fit the same, but the later 4x4 ones include a diode (indicated on the ISCV by a small diode symbol where the electrical plug goes on).
I believe that they are interchangeable, but the use of the later valve requires the 2 wires to be changed around if using an early ECU ?

ok,
i stripped my ISCV, and cleaned it out with brake cleaner and air gun.
Tried the test with ign on (as Mike R advice
)
, but with my s8 it dont do anything, so i pluged in my old p8 super 8, and Bang the ISCV does fine on the test, i also got 2 spare iscv's off a mate, cleaned them, and they do the same on the test, (open and shut fully 5-10 times wen ign is turned on)
So refitted my one, and Bang its now workin, so played around abit on the settings on the s8, and idle'n nicely, the only thing is the iscv seems abit slow to adjust the idle (not sure if thats normal, as i've never run it with it connected
)
So gonna try the 2 spare ones, and see if there's a difference, and may be borrow my mate brand new one and go from there.
Here's a few pics of the 2 sorts i have, they are all 01 ISCV's
my one off car

I believe the S8 runs closed loop idle speed control, but obviously doesn't do the cleaning program of the ISCV like the stand one does. Perhaps Simon could engineer this in with a simple software mod, as it will obviously increase the life of this item - otherwise it will become clogged up a lot quicker...
.
that's the recommended one above? that's the one i already have but the spring has gone weak so it doesn't work properly
if only i could find the same size/tension spring on something

just been out testing all three used ones i got, with car runnin with a iscv fitted,
i tested the other 2, and all 3 move the same to each other at set duty's
and whilst running with iscv connected i got
0-26% = no rpm change (so still shut)
at 27% duty rpm starts to rise,
at 60% iscv is fully open.
Bud, cant you find someone with a fucked iscv but good spring?

probably yeah, i honestly thought the other one i got would do the job, but being different type i'm not sure it will??? car doesn't start with it fitted,and with the original one i have it hunts for ages til warm ( i tested my mates known good valve and car worked fine ) i'll get another i think
