Cossie rev limiter
Is it ill advised to hit the limiter on standard valves etc ?

Its never ideal to, but cant harm it if every now and then. Though if it happens a lot you can pity the pistons.

what's your limiter set to? mines at 7200 now on standard valves/valve springs. i think to go further than that then double vavle springs at least would be needed

ECU, with programming the limiter, if you have a chip it might be altered!

I'ts chipped to stage 3,so does that mean it will be raised slightly ?

rev limit has more to do with what the rods will handle than the valves.
if the timing is done correctly the valves shouldnt really hit the pistons.
have heard of it before tho.....
i have massive pockets in pistons to make sure they dont come into contact.

Cheers euan never really go near the redline anyway will do when it's been set up properly.

when you put your car on the rollers you will see where your peak power is made...
on standard cams its about 6.5k i think. no point really revning any further than that mate.

AS you can see the little pits on my piston by all accounts is common problem where its reved hard and on limiter where valves meet piston.
only what i have been told though.

i'd have thought the pitting was from det, the valve contact is much clearer on there, at about 8 o'clock (clock scale
)
