Default Mk1 Mk2 Escort HPI query?

Hi, is this plate tax exempt? And can anyone HPI it for me?
Cheers

Andy do they not take it from date of build rather than date of registration ?

The reg number has no impact on the tax exempt status of the car - that plate could be transferred to a brand new car tomorrow.

If the car was first registered before 1973 (I think) it is tax exempt, anything younger isn't. Thank the Labour party - when they came to power they changed it from 25 years old to this fixed date
