Default Striping my Escort?

I have a 1.3 Escort obv nothing special but I'm considering taking the back seats and removing the sound proofing and other weighty objects etc. Will this make much of a diference to the speed of the car? and what other stuff could I strip outta the car?

Yup, will make it accelerate faster, stop faster, handle better.

Its all about the power to weight ratio, you might have no power, but if u got no weight it wont matter so much!

Under carpet sound deadening is pretty heavy.

Most heavy thing (compared to aftermarket ones) is front seats, bigtime, massivley heavy mate compared to fixed back fibreglass bucket seats, over 7 stone each on a cossie if i remember right!

Even small things add up, so remove everything.

On my 3door i removed carpet, roof lining, door cards, seats, seatbelts, stereo, sound deadening behind dash, fan, all plastic interior trim, sun visors, basicly everything, even all wiring you dont need anymore.

Cheapest extra performance you can get

sripping does make a hell of a difference, in fact, it's my favourite mod. It makes perfect sense and best of all, it's free!

But in your case i'd maybe get a better base to start on first of all. You could always try it though see how you like it, because after all you can put it all back in (apart from the sound-proofing).

Strip it only if you dont have to put it all back in, like to sell it.

You could always put in a RST or XR3i lump when you can afford the insuracnce, how that will frighten a few people
