steering column bushes
after changing mine last night I thought I'd give you an idea of how bad they can get.

they only cost about £5 for all of them as well, plus one of mine was actually missing
if you can grab the wheel and move it up and down chances are yours is knackered too
It took me about an hour in total to change mine, surprised how easy it was

mine were a little worse then the picture at the top of the thread... the steering wheel actully locked up due to the fact that the bush completely collapsed.
when it did collapse i was doing 70mph approaching a round about while eating a twister ice cream at about 2 am , the car wouldnt turn so i shit myself hit the brakes locked up and went across the round about side ways.
when the dust settled there were a load of young lads walking across the road.. they all gave me a round of applause for the spectacular spin.
ford did say 1 of the bushes were obsolite... but i managed to get second hand ones ok, once u change them the car drives like brand new.

Bloody hell, im missing bush number 9, no wonder my steering feels like piss. Might as well be steering the car that pulls up next to me with the feel i get from the steering in my car! Nice one mate!
nice one for the info lads, my s/wheel moves up and down and i know it will fail the MOT so im stripping it out in the next few days and gettin the 4 main bushes for the rack and hopefully that will cure the problem,
i guess those part numbers are main dealer part numbers ???
what sort of price are they then ??
do u recon there will be a problem in sourcing them now or not ?

no your probably not missing number 9, thats the one that goes in the rubber gator in the bulkhead
I broke the new bush in my first post when tightening up the steering wheel bolt cos it wasn't sitting in the bottom of the tube straight so be careful...
