Default owners with air bags help please

My 1995 small turbo does not have an airbag due to it being built to foreign spec (went to singapore) I want to fit an airbag and have got the correct steering wheel, I have just got all the wiring I need from a mk 6 in the scrappy BUT it had electric seat belt pre tensioners, when I checked mine they are the old mechanical type.
Can you please have a look under your seats and tell me what type yours are please?
I'm thinking that mk5 escorts may have the mechanical type and mk6 electric if so I have the wrong wiring and control box!!

cheers,
steve

I was going to fit airbags to my old esc cos and I got the wiring from a mk5 escort, as far as Im aware all airbag equipped esc cossies have the mechanical pre tensioners which would be the same as the mk 5. They completely changed the wiring on mk 6 escorts.

no just the steering wheel, the connections are dead easy, the power connects to a spare connection on the fuse box, one earth(2 wires), one to pin 6 on the clocks for the warning light and then one to the clock spring and thats it!!
I hope

Pointless fitting a S/Hand Airbag IMO, as they are servicable items after 10 years of age...

the air bag has a 99 date stamp on it so it has a few years left in it!!
I went to the scrappy to day and got all the correct wiring and module from a mk 5 escort smiley grill model and it will be really easy to fit so should get it done in the next few weeks, cheers for the help guys.
