Yeah, delete all those icon's off your desktop for a start.

And then, disable everything except your broadband modem (if applicable), anti virus software / firewall (for the small use that zonealarm is) msn messenger is optional, and basically any programs you feel that you don't need running when you boot the computer up

 

I know ive got far too many icons but i like the ease of just clicking what i want without looking on the start bar or whatever, but theres probably at least 7-8 icons i can delete because i dont use much or not at all.
