FAO Drag experts; street legal drag tyre sizes
Can you get effective drag tyres in sizes larger than 16 inch [rim size] or is it best to use 16s?
I dont want to have to put my std rear brakes on to do the odd drag meet so I'm hoping that I can use motorsport 17 inch rears.

BFG drags come in 205/40/17 225/40/17 275/40/17 (ideal for R33GTR rims) and 315/35/17.
In 18s they come 245/40 265/40 275/35 295/35 315/30 and a monster 345/30.
They are low profile road legal radial tyres, not like the M/T balloon jobbers a lot of the quickest cars are running lately.
When I actually gave a fuck about drag racing I was gonna use 16in R32GTR rims and proper Hoosier Wrinkle Wall drag tyres, just like the Heat Treatments and RIPS car always used.
But now I dont give a shit.
So i wont

Wont get big profile ones with 17s mate.
But dont discount these ones mate, ask Danny B, he can explain.
IMO you wont see a grip advantage between Tims type and these, as tims might be higher profile but they not wrinkle wall jobs so I dont see an advantage of a high profile tyre in the respect.
Dunno how the GTR is coming on, I forgot to find out, and im off home now
