Fastest 2ltr 4wd is an Esclipse with a 8.8sec run.
And capacity dont mean that much when turbos are involved, as the 1.5litre 1000+bhp Turbo F1 cars of the 80s prove, GTRs are only 2.6 anyhow, id put money on that cossie being at least a 2.1 or 2.2 now, could be a 2.4 for all we know...

For the amount its modified and the fact its on slicks, that time isnt anything special and a GTR of similar specs will destroy it.

Like i said, the fastest GTR on slicks like this escort is 7.6second quarter at 182mph

Even the 10th fastest is a mid/high EIGHT second quarter, still over a whole second faster.

Even the 10th fastest on ROAD tyres is a 9.1second 1/4, and slicks like that escorts got make a MASSIVE difference over the 1/4 as its all about the 1st 60ft. That car actually uses the same single T51 like this escort too.

Anyone can be a skyline killer, or anything killer providing the specs are totaly different, a crappy worn out 2wd saff with about 300bhp is a skyline killer providing you race a std one.
Hell, a chipped RST is a skyline killer providing you race a GTST.
Me running really fast is a skyline killer if i race a GTS
But when you talking cars of a basicly similar spec, then no chance.

That escorts got a mad spec, but that times not that special, Kev Sharps escort can do 10.4 on road tyres on a heavier car and a fairly basic compared to that spec, the massive effect slicks has (esp as kevs 10.4 was done with a relativley poor 1.6 60ft) would mean Kev would prob get very close or even beat that time just by running slicks.
You get around 0.2sec quicker run for every 0.1 off the 60ft, so if kev got a 1.3sec 60ft hed get a 9.8...

Whatever tho, cars amazing still, well the engine is, but the "Oooh ooh Skyline Killer" thing people are saying is daft, like for like mods (ie slicks, totaly stripped, mad engine) and the skylines are still over 2secs faster down the 1/4, and even the road legals are nearly 1.5secs quicker.

The car IS a McLaren F1 killer tho, but so is Kevs and Martins Escorts

 

But for a escort it is very fast !!

 

For the record, I luuurve skylines.

However, although this escort does not beat the quickest skylines, how many times have you heard rs turbo owners stating cossie killer or car owners saying bike killer. This escort could beat a lot of skylines so it is a skyline killer as such, just not the best ones

Its just a fact of life Skylines are better enginered cars capable of being tuned to quite rediculous amounts of horsepower and capable of devastating times and top speeds .
In which I dont think a Cossie will ever be able to match performance wise .

However pound for pound and value for money nothing beats a cossie

Spend Ł15K and get a cossie with 500+ unfortunately you will only get a half decent R33 for that money with very little mods

 

They are verniers mate, Quaife ones. Not pretty Kent type.

That is a VERY Ugly scort!!! but a freakin quick one! Is it a Skyline killer?? Yes and NO, He didn't say which Skyline it would kill! Yeah the skyline is "only" 2.6, but it does have 6cyl! I think a more direct comparison is the Skyline GTR's with the Buick Grand National! Those cars are scary fast!!! IMHO Skyline's and Cossies are like comparing apples and oranges..

i only know 1 skyline in this country that has done a 9.98 1/4 and that was keiths at TOTB II...i have never seen/heard a skyline pull a 9 sec @ the pod

Literally 100s in the rest of the world.

But that cars in Cyprus so thas not england either

Project X wouldve ran a easy low 9 at the pod a few months ago as did a 10.1@155mph by just rolling off the line and booting it a second later.

And the pod isnt the be all and end all of 1/4 mile drag racing , infact there are other skylines here that have done 9s I know of one personally and Dirk knows the car too , and when Rod fits my car with the sequential gearbox and DannyB supplys the tyres Im after the first place I will take it will be Avon park for some runs or wont they count as its not the POD

 

My Point is if you can do it at the pod ... it's well respected as most peeps find it hard to get a good time at the pod..... you look at all the TOTB cars... even cossies what ever ... there times were faster on the 1/4 there .......none them have ever bettered there times a the pod compaired to elvington ....

i have run 12's at avon park but never run a 12 @ pod for some reason... i have been close ....tho ......lol..
