wont it start now???
2wd saff cossie. turns over fine, there is fuel, and there appears to be a spark coming from the leads, cleaned all the plugs up. timing is all ok.
sorta sounds like there is no compression
any help wud be gratefully recieved as i had to drive my mums 1litre 3 cylinder corsa to the PF meet last not and i did not enjoy it in the slightest lol
cheers

right, it is fueling,
as for what i did, nothing, new bolt in alternator, exhaust down pipe back on and then it started, all was fine, went to start it allittle lata and now this
mate has just come round with a compression tester and guess what
no compression on any cylinder... oh fuck

Strange to suddenly have no compression on ANY cylinder... but if you say it spins over with no compression...
To get an idea of what no comp turn over sounds like, spin it over with plugs in and plugs out each should sound different...
you sure belt hasnt stripped, take belt cover off, see if crank rotates aswell as cams..

the tester is fine. normaly u can hewar the starter sorta fighting against the compression of the engine but u can now, hard to discribe realy. its the fact that its on all cylinders tho

cheers, dont sound alot different to be honest mate, u can hear alittle air escaping from the plug holes but not alot at all, would barley move a piece of paper
have the hydrolic tappets jacked out ....did u start it then turn it off fairly soon ...sometimes oil getup into tappets but cant release pressure holding valves open ...try crancking full throttle and hope for the best i recon it shud go ... i presume belt is driving all the gears

yep beltis ok,not to tight or loose either. timing is all at factory stardards. i have tried the cranking on full trottle with no results unfortunatly.
if the teppets had done that widnt the pistons of hit the valves?

are you sure cams are turning when starter is winding, have seen teeth come off belt so bottom pulley turns but belt doesnt if you know what i mean, very strange to have zero compression all of a sudden

its so confussing

have done it for about 10secs once or twice. nice pop when i tried it again this morn lol.
i realy dont no about the tappets as im no from past experience that the valve WILL hit the pistons. either way its not going anywhere soon as i dont have the money to do it

Don't know if this will help but had same problem on a few injected cars.
When you start car it goes into cold start mode and puts extra fuel in for cold eng. if you switch off to soon it washes all oil off the bores.
Then every time it doesn't start after its still putting in to much fuel.
no oil on bores no seal for rings = no compression.
Cure... Remove plugs pour some eng oil down each bore, crank eng over with out plugs few time to remove excess. Replace plugs and after a few cranks should start and have compression back
Let me know how you get on.
Don't panic yet.

dont know if this will help but when i first bought my 2wd cozzy i gave it a good clean under the bonnet then it wouldnt start. tried everything plugs, leads, coil all that stuff turned out the ignition amplifier wasnt clipped in right. started first time afer that.
I had a very similar problem with my 2wd. It drove fine, parked up then tried to start it later no joy. Got a mate who is a mechanic to take a look and at first glance everything seemed to be fine, but all became clear after a compression test. No compression in to cylinders. On closer inspection the woodruff key had snapped, so it looked like the belt was turning everything, but in fact it was only spinning the pulley on the outlet cam not the cam itself. Head off to find bent valves and dings in the pistons. The replacement woodruff key was only 11p. I can laugh now, but different story at the time.

SHIT !
