Default Why 2 different Zetec Coilpacks???

Just wondered why Ford changed the coilpack on the early models to the current one?

The later model coilpack appears to have push on plug caps like the normal ones where as the early version has the clip on ones.

there must be a reason for it, but why are the coil pack conversions on the early coilpack and not the later one???

If the later one takes the normal plug leads then surely that would be cheaper.....

Outside diameter of the dizzy cap terminals approx 14mm.

Inside diameter of terminals approx 9mm (difficult to tell as its tapered - approx diameter of the copper bit)

I've got the straight cap and right angled leads (4x4 i think)

Got both the cap and a lead sitting next to me so can measure more if needed

Just got a measurement from the later type and its 15mm, so well within the stretch of the boot.

I suspect though that the clips themselves may well be a different size, but im onto that too.
