ADVICE REQ. 4 pot callipers set up queries&RS2000 strut
hi lads
im a newbie on here...so hi
i have a set of 4 pot callipers from a volvo 240....i want to fit these to my 2.1 mk2 escort, it has 2.8i struts and capillers on her at moment...and disc conversion @ rear with sierra discs and pads with hydraulic handbrake....
i presume these 4 pots wont bolt straight on or do they....if not what do i have to do to get them to fit...
the father has a set of new rs2000 struts(mk2) in the attic, does the sierra/volvo 4 pots fit straight to these if i went down the road of changing the struts becuase the 2.8i's are very hard - i.e. there is no give in them with the pinto setup...its not as heavy as the v6 in the capris which they were made for......
Also what discs do i need for the rs2000 struts if i went with these??
i know there is alot of questions being thrown at ye here, but im sure there is plenty of ye out there who's carried out such conversions....so all help will be greatly appreciated.
regards
Barry

your best bet is to try the Caprisport style stuff...
you can get recon front Granada Calipers for about £30 a side, then you have two choices...
use the 260 mm setup if you have deep enough wheels, or 283mm if you have 15inch wheels.
Next you have to machine down the hubs so the disc ( 260 = RS Turbo, 283 = 2wb Sierra Cosworth ) fits over the hubs - you can get a machine shop to do this for £20. Then fit sierra wheel studs to the hub.
Then buy a bracket off caprisport and away you go.
I expect you could get the conversion done for just over £150 and the brakes will then be awesome.
I have 283 on the front of my 24v capri and bl**dy hell does it stop quick.
This brake setup allow you to brake quickly with out having to resort ot locking up. Front wheels locking is not an indication of good brakes. Rapid deceleration without lock up is good.
