Default windscreen washer spray

Has anyone modified the windscreen washer system on a S1/S2 to produce a strong spray, like on newer cars. Even with a new pump and jets, the spraying power is pathetic at cold weather. Notice that the solution used in winter in scandinavia is also much heavier to pump/spray. The result is a spray that reaches only the lowest 15cm of the windscreen. At summer, with water there are no problems.

So, has anyone for instance tried to use the headlamp washer pump instead or done some other cunning tricks?

JesseT: My washers are fine on my Orion, spray fine right up the window, but then on my cabriolet they are pathetic, i dont know why the difference? With new parts they should be fine?

Robsta35: I know the MK3's definately had an option for headlamp washers, they all have the relay socket under the dash, but ive never seen any in the flesh. Think it was more XR3's that had them. MK4's im not too sure though?

Yeah your right, Fords are big posh cars

Look in a haynes manual, you'll see the wiring on the wiring diagrams, and in the bodywork fittings section it shows you where to have the jets spraying on the lamp

I have a spray bar off a Peugeot attached to my wiper arms.

The water gets forced onto the window directly in front of the wiper blade.

Its one thing I can't afford to fail come the day we need it

Simple effective and easy mod to do

Mine are totally fine Very powerful, spray to the top no problem. Maybe there is a small restriction in the piping?

Like I said it's fine at summer but just doesn't do when the the temperature gets below 10C and the water concentration has to be very low. I'll think I try to redo the pipework so it's using the stronger headlight washer pump.

I rerouted the system to use the high pressure headlight washer pump for the windscreen washers and the difference is quite remarkable
Then again I suppose none of you UK boys have the headlight washers in the first place...
