Default who uses there sapp cos everyday ?

im finding mine a bit expensive to run am only doin very small runs to work and family and stuff i love the car but im on the verge of getting shut due to the costs of running it and thinking on a series 2 rst do you think i would benifit doing this ? , ive owned rst' and i can remember them not being to bad

ive toyed with the idea of getting a runabout but there isnt really much point in one as i wouldent use the cossie then

how much does yours cost to run each month ?

cheers Pie™

Pie - just go and buy a cheap diesel mate..............it's only a smoke so doesn't have to be flash.

Keep the Cosworth mate - it puts a smile on your face and no amount of money can buy that................

Gracie - that's the way forward mate

Ol' shitter that's cheap. My everyday hack is a little 1.25 Zetec Fiesta (mint one though) and she's a real nice one. TBH I wouldn't run anything bigger than that as a) the mileage I do is pretty hefty, and b) I'm a tight arse who hates buying petrol !!!

Only do about 350 miles a year in my S1 and I moan like fuck on the 2 or 3 occasions I have to put petrol in her

serious - it really does feel good when you can leave it in the middle of a shitty town center with the doors unlocked and the window open and then go shopping

Get something worth Ł500, 3rd party only. If it's a small diesel or a Fiesta like mine it's pennies.

Pennies eh Gracie ? The way forward IMO. See my previous post Pie !! Worth doing mate, keeps the mileage and costs down on the Cosworth as well. With the saving in maintenance and petrol you'll pay for the 2nd motor and all the costs associated with it.

seriously - get a second car, then have that on a main insurance policy, then get the cossie on a specialist limited mileage policy

Pie - Gracie's right mate..............honestly.................my s1 costs pennies to insure on classic limited mileage policy. Alot less than my Fiesta in fact.

get a new chip and set up by msd, i found my cossie better on fuel on motorways than my xr3i cabrio BUT round town and to work ( ie short distances) the cabrio is alot better

i do 20 quid in fuel in the cossie at 100mph from london to oxford and 30 in the cabrio as the cab reving to 5500rpm

go over 110mph in the cossie then i loose the economy for some reason BUT not as bad as when i borrowed the misus uncles mondeo 2.0 ghia X

i done 40 quid in fuel just driving to oxford but was following a SL55 at 125 to 140 , had top slow down to 125 when there was anything remote like a bend as the car just wobbled all over the shop

i also find tha driving style affects economy too, dancossie as a citreon zx 1.9 turbo diesel and we used that when we picked up his old flip painted erst in black pool, we done 45 quid in diesel there and back

the following week i borrow it and i drove to derby to pick up my cossie engine,,,,,,,, doine half the distance and used 50 quid in diesel

but i wasnt doing 70mph like he was so i think diesels are not too hot on fuel when spanking em either ( was doing about 100ish or more,,,,,, well i had my foot flat to the floor all the way )

if its L8 then get it closed loop controlled and a decent map on it, alot of off the shelf chips are focused "on boost" and as a result they can be quite rich lower in the rev range

also check the water temo sensor in the head aint fooked and the rear brakes aint binding,,,, i compalined about crap economy around town after and was still not that great after stu custom made me a chip for it

stu said to check both of these, i ignored it and 4 weeks later i needed new rear pads,,,,,,,,, i changed em thinking nothing and then 6 weeks later i needed a new set again

can ya guess what the problem was
