Default 60mm?

been looking around recently and i cant find any 60mm springs or full kits that are 60mm. i take it that 25mm and 40mm are the norm, but surely 60mm's must be about?

can anyone point me in the right direction?

cheers guys.

60mm is just too low mate. 25-35mm is spot on for these cars.

not even if i buy the shocks to match? does 60mm just give you an uncomfortable ride on these cars? or does it really affect them?

i'd like to try 60mm first, and if it is to uncomfortable then switch to 40mm.

at the end of the day mate it's your choice but, dropping it that far will have an adverse effect on the steering rack amongst other things!! and you'll have a horrible ride! plus you wont be able to drive over a small pebble without the exhaust catching!!

And it will handle like a big piece of shit and shaft front tyres at a daft rate as the camber will be way off. 30mm on Koni or Spax Shock absorbers. It's tried and tested for a good reason.

My last series 2, I lowered by 60mm and handling wasnt too bad but the exhaust scrapped as soon as the car hit any bumps and speed bumps were a big no no as the just kept taking the rear clamp off. I'd listen and only drop by 40mm unless your going the coilover route.

Hope this helps

Ive had 5 rst I fitted all with 60mm. You must be the same as me good and low. You have to buy them for an mk3/4 xr3 then they are 60mm. Dont get g max there 60mm still looks like 40mm. PI are the best in my eyes if you want 2 go low. These are pics of my old ones https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=160928

My cabby is decked what can only be 60mm, and theres id say about 6" clearance from the ground, and its bumpy as fuck. TOO LOW!!!!!!

It aint worth it mate, im guna put some higher springs on, you'll go through tyres on the front like mad aswell they have very bad camber problems!

Ok, ive found the springs that i need, but now i need shocks.

Gonna search ebay etc for some aftermarket shocks, but are xr3i items the same as RST's?

I only ask because a spring kit i found said that these springs in question would lower an xr3i by 40mm....... but ONLY lower an RST by 25mm?????

Is this down to the shocks?

Thanks guys.

Reason for that being an RS is lower than an XR3i from the factory.

Not the shocks.

ok so xr3i springs..... in either xr3i or rst aftermarket shocks will lower me by 60mm right?

is it just the springs that are the difference from factory?

To the best of my knowledge the shocks are the same, ive fitted an RS shock to the front of my Orion, i know ALL the Escort/orion shocks all have exactly the same fitment, the higher models such as RS XR's etc may be more heavy duty than say a popular, but im sure they are all exactly the same.

The RS had slightly lower springs from the factory, so whatever it states for an XR3i it will be slightly less on a RS becuase they are already that little bit lower.

If u go to low your guna have an awful drive, the car will tram line all across the road, you'll chew tyres up on the front in a couple of thousand miles, have chronic problems with rubbing, and worstly, YOU WILL WRECK THE CAR silly low springs stress everything out crack joints and then rust sets in and you can guess the rest

Its a race to get your car on the bump stops by the looks of it then

No cutting of springs though

Winner until beaten

From personal experience I wouldn't use a G-Max kit for anything other than weighing down a dead car thief in a canal. Koni or Spax all the way
