i was chatting to my dad earlier and he said his focus was playing up.

the engine managment light came on the other day, not flashing, just on.
the car was ok.

he had a look about and checked filters and stuff just incase it was seeing a blocked something or another. but didnt find any thing.

today his misses was driving home from work and the there was a strange thud. he described it as a slightly drawn out bang. so in other words not a sharp loud noise, but a deep thud. and there was a smell, like a burning smell. the car stopped. (im guessing he means the engine stopped running) she pulled over and waited for a minute and then tried re starting it. it did and drove back home fine.

i think its electrical.
anyone got any ideas on what could cause the engine managment light to come on for a while and the fault make the car do this.

any ideas appreciated, he wanted to have a look at it him self before paying fords stupid money just to plug it into a computer.

btw common faults on the focus is the coil packs fooking up

i dont actually do any work, just show up, mention the phrase " in my cossie............"
