Dunno what to get though, got £17k to spend but need some inspiration. No TVRs though, I don't like breaking down and I'm scared of massive bills for when they go wrong!

I thought about an e36 m3 before I bought my golf gti but decided against it due to fuel costs.

I've now got a company car so the fuel isn't an issue anymore but I think they're too long in the tooth. e46 M3s are still quite pricey. that coupled with the fact I can't get insurance for less than £1900!

E39 M5 V8 400 bhp, start at about 12k, for 17k you would get one with about 50k on the clock.

BMW M5 E39 for approx 15k upwards - 400bhp - 0-100 in 11seconds, must feel awesome to drive. I want 1.

 

Creamed one in my RS tonight, def better cars fo £17k IMO

 

just because there is faster cars you can buy dont make it better

Boxters are great cars but there are better for the money! (Unless that car has to be a mid engined convertible with a Porsche badge on the front!)

It all depends on what you want from the car!

M5 as said before is surely a great allrounder but quite a big car with a LOT of weight behind it at the end of the day.

Name me a car for 17k that's quick, handles as well, has the heritage and the class?

Relative to what you're getting for your money, I can't think oof a better car for the money, and funnily enough, EVO magazine tend to agree......... but hey, what do they know. They should listen to you instead!

 

IMO boxter are hard to climb in and out of if you're over 6 foot!get that evo 8,looks awesome!

 

Must admit when I sat in Porkies It felt very cramped lol, but then im 6'7 lol
If sat up properly Im sure i could see over the screen

the problem with e39 M5's is the service bills on them can be MASSIVE

boxster is a great value car for around 17k,,,

 

I take it you've had an ecos as no one has said it.

 

I guess it is down to personal preference. I would rather an older 911 than a Boxter if it was going to be a Porsche. I think they are better looking and Boxters are what I would call nippy but not fast (especially the non-S versions)

EVO just have to rotate between the 911 and Boxter when the relevant spec lists get too soggy to read from all their sex wee

Absolutely right =- I hate Boxsters personally, and I didn't like it when I drove one either. If you can afford a proper Porsche (911) then don't get one at all.

 

a nice 3 door R32 golf???? suppose they dont look as expensive as some of the above mentioned cars but at least the servicing and running costs cant be that huge .........
