Hello im new to the club and have recently purchased my first escort rs turbo 89 spec.
The car itself is in very good condition with very little rust perfect arches battery tray etc. Im on a budget for £1000 as i cant really strechted much more than this. the onlt part of the car exterior that needs sorting is the boot so deduct £100 say.
What im mainly after is a comfortable and everyday useable rs turbo that has a bit of power when you want it.
I know when your talking engines etc its expensive so where do i put the money at the mo its running fine and pushes i'd say 160bhp as its standard with exhaust, filter,power engineering chip thats it.
Please can anyone give me some good advice.

leave it in the bank for when it blows up. but seriously, think it best to keep some back....thats the sensible option though.

if i had the cash i would use some to get it waxoiled

 

Take it to an MOT tester, and have it done. They will check it proper - u'll be suprised - u may need bodywork doing if u want to keep it long term.

Engine wise - a new cam, breather system and bigger intercooler.

 

Put a decent intercooler on and leave it there. A nice set of wheels always makes a car look a lot nicer.

fit a full set of GOOD polly bushes NOT DEFLEX!!!!!!!!

set of silicone boost hoses if its not got them already as the old ones will start to colapse in time.

new actuator,

new intercooler and have it set up
